| Advice Please.... | oceanview Oct 24, 2002 12:26 AM | | I am stuck in a quandary here regarding RPTV or Direct TV HD compatible set. I have been looking at the Hitachi 43" RPTV, real nice picture, and the Panasonic CT36HL42 HD compatible direct tv.
My issue is invsetment vs the amount of HDTV broadcasts. Plus, I guess an additional $550 for a HD decoder.
Plus, I understand that "burn-in images" are still quite common place even though the networks have toned down the brightness. It is still an issue as I've been made to understand. I understand that precautions can be done to minimize this problem.
So this leads to my question; "Which set should I go with?"
They both show great pictures, and there is not much of a price difference.
Thank you for your comments/advice.

I've had my Mitsubishi RPTV (55 inch) for 5 years now. I likes how it was before, I like even more how it is now after using the sound and vision guide. I have never had any burn-in problems. The only thing I would worry about is convergence errors, but it shouldnt be much of a prob. I would go with the RPTV you are looking at, I wouldnt worry about HDTV receivers, they are changing so fast that the one in the other TV maybe incompatible with the signal you are receiving while with the RPTV, you wont have any trouble. My 2 cents.
