| Wiring surround speakers | thash Oct 24, 2002 6:57 PM | | I am in the process of wiring my surround speakers for my home theater. The room size is large, over 2000 cubic feet. The surround speakers I will be using are Def Tec BPVX. My question is at what height do I mount them? Should I mount them up high on the wall or low and place them on stands? These particular speakers are Bipolar and I intend to wire them in that manner. Any ideas. |

Surround speakers should always be mounted over the head to avoid any direct path to the ear canal, and spatial interference with the mains. Bipolar surrounds are particularly effective in large rooms, so I would place them according to ITU standards. 110 degrees of center or 2-3ft behind the listening position 3ft above the ears at sitting position. This setup is always a great place to start.
