Jan 8, 2003 7:48 AM | | I am looking at getting either the Panasonic PT-L720U, LT-750U or PT-AE300U projector. I am going to be using this for my Home Theatre that is in my dark basement and consists of:
-GameCube (Prog scan for some games)
-Panasonic PR-91 DVD Player (Prog Scan)
-DirecTV (only has S-video, but I want to upgrade to one with Component out someday)
-VCR
-Cable TV
-PC running 1152x864 resolution
I will be watching about 50/50 16:9 and 4:3 programs so I think that a native 4:3 would be better; am I correct here? I was leaning more towards the LT-750U because of it's XGA resolution and high ANSI rating.

-i am not sure about the 4:3, but i can tell you as an owner of a projector which does not have XGA, that i wish mine did(though the lower resolution is stil quite nice). the next one i buy will be XGA. depending upon the store, you can probably compare the two and see if you notice a considerable difference between the two resolutions.
-oh, also, higher lumens are more important if the projector is being used in a reasonably bright environment(as opposed to a dark basement) or in the case of DLP projectors(which are less efficient than LCD's)...so the difference might not matter, though i do not have the specs for the units in question. my projector is only 800 lumens and i watch in a dim room, not a dark one, most of the time.
-perhaps woodman can offer a little more help here than i can.
anyway, projector posts don't tend to get many responses on this board, so i thought i might as well share my thoughts on the matter. take that for what its worth, if its worth anything...

Jan 8, 2003 12:45 PM | | its still early yet...and there are a lot of people on this board who know more than i thought one could know about this stuff('woodman,''ray from ri,' etc.) , so you might still get the answers you seek. anyway, good luck...i am sure you will love whichever one you end up with--mine is an older model and doesnt have some of the features you are looking at, but i still love it, so i think you will love yours too.
