Which are the perfect room dimensions?flup

For HT? For music any different?

Initial setup with bookshelfs. With probably a set of 5 (later 7) NHT SB1 or 2 or 3 plus Sub. Any comments on whether to use a monitor with good LF extension (like the SB3 which goes down to 39hz) for all 5 channels OR better a monitor that doesn´t go that low. I may think that a monitor that doesn´t extend that low, should handles the critical midrange (dialogue,...)better? Any suggestions on a real good sub (NHT doesn´t have any great ones, anymore)?
Not just for HT...

Back to the room. It will be build entirely out of bricks and concrete. Any suggestions on what materials to be used as carpets, etc...? Any comment is highly appreciated.

I almost forgot, what is the greatest value in DLP projectors nowadays. Heard some nice comments about InFocus..?

many thanks!

Bricks and concrete walls/floors/ceilings don't sound good.

If opposing walls (or the floor & ceiling) are BOTH brick or concrete, the room's standing waves will be very strong and
very audible = bad news for bass frequencies.

For a room whose inside walls are built with brick or concrete I would recommend inexpensive audio equipment
unless you have already experimented and believe the room sounds good.

In general larger rooms sound better than smaller rooms.

In general a bad listening room is least offensive if you place all the speakers and your ears well away from the walls and you also sit close to the speakers (results in a larger percentage of direct sound from the speakers &
a smaller percentage of reflected sound from the walls).
