| re: Looking for new A/V receiver need help on what to get | Bryan Apr 25, 2003 8:51 AM | | What all do you need to hook up to it? Any reason you want that over the 1082 (Denon AVR-3802)? FYI, the 1082 remains on sale from 6ave.com for $595 plus shipping. |
| re: Looking for new A/V receiver need help on what to get | soundman2000 Apr 25, 2003 9:08 AM | | I am looking to hook up my Tv,Cd player,DVD player. I like the full 7 channels of power wich will be used to its fullest. |
| Given that | Bryan Apr 25, 2003 1:12 PM | | I'd save some money and go with the 1082. |
| Given that | Breezer88888 Apr 25, 2003 7:54 PM | | Bryan, question for you. Which Denon receiver for 7.1 - AVR 1803 or AVR-1082 ?
I'm looking to get the best use of the rear center surrounds and don't want to miss out on the recent DVDs with Dolby Digital EX formats. The AVR-1082 doesn't have DD-EX, but it is set up for 7.1 with DTS-ES and Neo 6, 110W, and Sharc 32bit processing. Will not having DD-EX be a big deal? And yes, I'm interested b/c 6th Ave is selling it for under $600.
I was also considering the newer AVR-1803 ($350) that has DD-EX & DTS-ES, Neo 6, 80W, and 32bit processing. My question on this receiver is whether it can run the rear pair of center surrounds w/o bi-amping? All speakers have efficient SPL ratings and the rear centers are small in-walls. Will the AVR-1803 adequately drive the 7 speakers?
Thanks a lot,
Breezer |

This powerful configuration lets you take maximum advantage of the dynamic performance that today's DTS-ES, Dolby Digital EX, DVD-Audio, and SACD program sources offer. The Dolby Pro Logic II features lets you hear 2-channel stereo sources in realistic 5.1-channel surround sound. The AVR-1082 includes Multi Zone Output and Power Amp Assign functions that let you output different sources to more than one room.

Unquestionably I would go with the 1082 over the 1803 if choosing between the two as it is the better receiver. |

| re: Looking for new A/V receiver need help on what to get | soundman2000 Apr 28, 2003 5:12 AM | | The main reason I liked the denon 3803 is that all 7channels are powered there are not a lot of recevers out there that have that I am running klipsch rf-5 ib the front so I need something to power them and It comes with almost all the functions that I want . |
| re: Looking for new A/V receiver need help on what to get | RGA Apr 28, 2003 10:14 PM | | The review site is just to provide you with information from people who review in blind tests and in panels. How you choose to decide is totally up to you of course...but I know when I buy something, especially something fairly expensive...I want to get as many takes on the item as possible. I would usually suggest UHF magazine forst but they generally dislike all receivers. Second choice is Hi-Fi choice if looking at receivers. The two magazines will Directly state their opinion without fear of losing advertising revenue.
You can always add a 7 channel power amp later. I would look to a dedicated processor(but they may be much more expensive). |
