| Samsung 50 inch | traphouse Apr 26, 2003 8:49 PM | | Been away from reading posts for awhile (after seeing what's happened to the General Forum I remembered why) and was wondering if anyone owns this new technology or what technical reviews have been writtrn about it. I saw one tonight in Best Buy and was pretty impressed against the plasma units. The price at $4000 seems reasonable relative to the brand name plasmas, the weight issue seems inline at about 85 pounds, so interested in anything negative beyond the untested longevity of the mirrors issue, etc. |

Even the best rptv's look washed out by comparison. Thanks Texas Instruments for developing the technology. You won't need to dim the lights and draw the shades to watch a dlp. The only downside I can think of is that the technology is a little new. Long term reliability is unclear. I don't usually go for service contracts but in the case of DLP I would. Having said that, |

It's almost very finely pixelated. However, other than that I absolutely LOVE it. Just watched Monster's Inc for the first time this weekend and my house guests were blown away.
btw - I went w/ the 5year service contract at a discounted rate.
Thanks,
Ron. |
