| For accurate sound staging, both speakers [L&R] should... | Smokey May 1, 2003 5:04 PM | | ....have the same distance from your head, or more accurately your ears. I was reading up on inner working of human ear (psycho-acoustic effects), and it seem that if the sound from one speaker (right or left) reaches your ear before the other one does, the sound stage will slightly shift to that speaker.
The more distance there is between [each] speakers and your ear, the more sound stage will shift to the speaker that is closest.
I took out a measuring rope last night and measured distance of each speaker to my ears, and the left speaker was farther off about 4-5 inches. So I made slight adjustments to speakers and now both have exact distance from me. As far as sound [staging] improvement, I am still evaluating :) |
