Bestbuy has it on closeout for $899...I hear good things about it...
Cheaper than the Wega's, too...which I think are overpriced.. |

I spent quite a bit of time researching and comparing different sets a few months ago before I bought and concluded Toshiba was best. BB may have it for $899- I suggest going to a non-chain local dealer because you can probably get this set even cheaper. FWIW, here's my post from a couple days ago on HDTV v. analog.
>>If you go with an analog set, I recommend the Toshiba 36AF42 which you should be able to find for about $849 (or 36AF62 with PIP for $50-$100 more). Comparable Sonys are $100 more but I think the Toshiba's have a better picture and quality. To get the HD version of the Toshiba, you could expect to pay about $1650. Incidentally, I was in a similar dilemma (knowing I wanted a tube set) wondering analog v. HDTV but only having room for a 32. I bought the Toshiba 32HF72 for about $1050 and wish I would have pocketed the extra $350 by going with the analog set. I just think that while it is great for progressive scan DVDs, I'm on digital cable and don't get a lot of benefit. I thought the HD would tide me over, but just don't think it was worth the extra dosh. I intended on buying a large widescreen HDTV in a couple years when I buy a different house. Now I'm entertaining the idea of a plasma...<< |
