| Rear Surround Help | John1974 Nov 7, 2003 6:54 AM | | Hello, Im kinda stuck on this home theater question. I have a set of Klipsch RF-3II's and a klipsch center now im looking to upgrade the rears, does it really matter that much to get the 6.5 inch speakers or will the 5.25 ones be sufficient? I can get the reference ones 5.25 about 100.00 cheaper or I can get the Synergy series 6.5 for about 30.00 more but still 70.00 less than the referenc. But i have all reference so far and will the Synergy kinda be gooofy? So the models its between is the RB-25 and RB-15, Im worried that the 5.25 will not be enough? I also have a Infinity Sub (12' 250 watts) |
| Synergy's up front=synergy's in the rear | Sir Terrence the Terrible 1 Nov 7, 2003 9:40 AM | | John,
I would frame this decision not on finances, but sound matching. While one may be a cheaper alternative, sonically it might not be the correct one. It is better to stay with one line(even within the same company)of speakers rather than mixing lines. In your case I would go with the 5.25" because it is within the same line as the front speakers. I would stick to the reference series because they use different parts, tolerances, crossover points and components than the synergy series does. That will likely make it sound quite different even though they both use horn loaded technology for the mid/tweeter. Whats wrong with going with the RS-3II? They would be a perfect match for the RF-3II that you already have.
