I won't be purchasing any more copies of Stereophile Mag3db

The article that turned me off from them was a wall receptacle that they tested in the "listening section" of this mag. And you know what? They could tell the sonic difference between this wall receptacle from your ordinary standard wall receptacle because this unit has a stronger grip on the prongs being plugged into it. What a bunch of BS!! This article reeks of Princess and the Pea; nothing but a fairytale. I would love to corner this author into a DBT and lets see of he can hear the differences.
Up to you..... ;-)F1

And from listening to speaker some others can tell that a musician is at certain feet behind the speaker! How'bout that?? Even if they see the real concert, they cannot exactly determine how many feet the drummer is behind the singer.

Oh, the human mind is a wonderful mystery, how well it can imagine things:)

I was at the audioshow in Montreal and you would not believe the idiots falling for these "line conditioners",
they were doing demos with these things proving that one
was better than the other with use of an electronic analyzer because the human ear cannot tell the difference.
In otherwords if you need a machine to analyze something the human ear cannot hear what good is it?
I know another idiot who paid $750 for 2 power cords, one for a CD player and one for and amp.
ITS ALL BS

Good luck :)

I have a friend who reviewed stuff. Said if he couldn't hear differences in a DBT, what would he tell his readers? He will never sit down for one.

Good point. But this an all out blatant lie. But I can't proove that because its subjective.

About the imagaing aspect of loudspeakers, I once (20 yrs agoa) went to an audio shop and listened to a pair mirage speakers runnng thru a Yammy receiver. I forgot the Yamaha's model number but remembered the Mirage as being SM3's. They played an album (CD were'nt out yet) where someone was knocking on the floor. And these things imaged so well that I could tell that the knock was about about 1ft of the floor, about 3ft forward and a little to the left (off center) . But now on hind sight, maybe they didn't image well and the knocking sound came from other direction *Shrugs shoulders* But from this experience, I do believe to some degree what reviewers write about imaging on speakers.

It did a very good article about the "Blues" which was very interesting to read. One guy inthe south still finds old blues players and puts them out on CD.

Yeah it's easy to pinpoint in a decent system that the singer normally image at the dead center and other instruments are off center to the left and right. Sometimes the sound is perceived to be coming from the front or somewhere in the background; but to determine how many feet in front or behind the speaker one needs a very creative imagination.

And some have a pretty good one:)

b But I can't proove that because its subjective.

Well, it can be demonstrated under a DBT listening session. So, it can be proven if th eplug makes audible differences.

b But from this experience, I do believe to some degree what reviewers write about imaging on speakers.

Yes, imaging is an issue of the speakers and, how well the recording was made.
