Newbie VCR/Receiver connection questionZdawg

Have Denon 1804 Receiver. Prior to receiver, I had my yellow composite video cable from VCR going into Input 2 of TV. After getting receiver, can I go out of VCR into one of the "Video In's" on the Receiver? ..confused-what does the Receiver have to to with video? I have the white and red audio cables going into "VCR Audio In" on Receiver, but not sure about the "Video In"..

Thanks
Jeff

Yes, you can run the composite from the VCR to the receiver then run the out/TV composite back to the TV. Some say you may suffer signal loss/Picture quality, but that is up to you and what you see.

The new receivers are called audio/video receivers (AVR). The receiver can take audio and video input from multiple devices. The back of the receiver has a video out (usually called monitor out or something similiar) that you run to your TV. The recevier keeps track of what is selected and thereby knows which video signal to send to the TV. The cool thing about this is you can watch TV (no sound of course) and listen to music at the same time.
