Nov 13, 2003 8:57 AM | | I just purchased the Hitachi 51S500 and am very pleased. However, when I watch "widescreen" DVD's there are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. I do not have a progressive scan dvd player, I adjusted the seting on the dvd player to 16:9/4:3 zoom, there is no 16:9 aspect option alone. However I am still getting these bars. If i change the tv to 16:9 zoom, then the picture fits. Any ideas?? Thanks..... |

Nov 14, 2003 12:39 PM | | My numbers my be off, but the movie needs to be in 1:48:1 ratio to have no black bars. Has nothing to do with your DVD player or TV. On some DVD's it will tell you the ratio of how the film was shot/transfered. |
