| I'm In the world of HDTV | tuxedo Nov 14, 2003 10:04 AM | | I just got the Sony KP-65WS510. Comcast installed the HD box. I am running high end Monster Componet cables and optical for all connects except TIVO. A few questions.
How does Tivo effect the picture? If the cable is running from the high def box into Tivo, then into my Denon receiver, am I losing the HD signal?
The picture is ok, but not what I had hoped, is it a matter of the Tv needing time to burn in? I just ordered the DVE disc.
For example, I do not see a difference between the digital HBO and the HD HBO?
Same with my DVD player, the picture was actually better on my old 36inch set. I do not have a progressive scan DVD player, could that be the problem? The Colors are great, but the clarity is not what I had hoped. Not sharp at all.
Comcast is going to come back and check their equipment outside, but is there something I should be doing onmy own. I spent a lot of money on the TV and cables, and I am no better off that I was with the smaller set and the digital cable? |

If this is the case, Yes you have just killed the HD signal. Unless the TIVO box has HD conversion in it (I dought) and the receiver has the same. From my knownledge (which is limited on this matter) the HD box should connect directly to the TV. If it has seperate sound output (toslink or Digital) then run that through the receiver if compatible.
With HD everything has to be the same, what you have done is stripped the HD out of the feed and are getting a regular analog picture from the Tivo and receiver.
My question: what type of connections does the HD-box have on the back. (RGB, DVI, 5-7 RCA outputs)? or regular cable RF. Most HD TV need RGB, DVI or the 5-7 RCA outputs lines from the box to your TV.
I ask this cause my cable provider (Adelipha) is bringing HD to my area in January. |
