| Anyone willing to make a Kinks comp. (or two) for trade? | PL May 11, 2001 10:41 AM | | The Kinks is a band I have always liked, but never seem to get around to picking up. This is mostly because when I go to a record store, I'm usually looking for new music. Anyway, I would like all the usual radio songs, plus (perhaps) a second disc of your personal favorites.
What in return? Well, I have lots of metal (new and old and all styles but "hair", "death", and "goth"), lots of classic rock, many heavy (so called) alternative. Oh, not everything I listen to is heavy. I have a decent amount of lighter stuff ranging from James Taylor to, say, Radiohead. Looking for any specific albums, or just list a few dozen songs? No problem, I'll do what I can. BTW, all of my stuff is on CD (been considering a TT, though).
Thanks,
Patrick Leitz
Oh, BTW, I am going away for the weekend and won't be home again until Sunday night. I'll get back to all who reply or e-mail late Sunday (after the "Sopranos", of course EST). |

If someone else is willing who has many of the remasters of their best albums (mid 60s to early 70s in my opinion), then that's how I'd go if I were you.
Also, after today I'll be gone until Wednesday in all likelihood.
Let me know.

| re: Thanks, but I think I'll just get the Klassiks. | PL May 13, 2001 8:43 PM | | I do apprieciate your generousity however. I'm going to pick up the new Tool album on Tuesday so I might as well get (or at least order) the Castle comp. too. Again, thanks! |

| Kinks Kronikles | cc May 11, 2001 1:27 PM | | I'm not a Kinks expert but I've heard this collection from the early 70s and it seemed thoughtfully done and may be a better alternative than a comp. Not exactly a greatest hits, as I believe it skips the early smash hits they had... but you've probably heard them a million times. 2 LPs. |
| Kink Kronikles | dbi May 11, 2001 1:40 PM | | Highly recommended for vinyl heads, especially the original 1971 issue, but polycarbonate heads that are concerned about sound quality should check out the recent (1998) Castle remasters as they are much better sounding than this thin sounding late 80s WEA 2-CD set. But if sound quality isn't a big concern, Kink Kronikles is available for under $10 per CD new and is right up there with the best rock band documents such as Neil Young's Decade. And if you can find it used for cheap, well, go for it!
