| Duncan Sheik "Humming"...$2.50 well spent | RPM May 15, 2001 12:22 PM | | I picked this cd up at Garage sale this past weekend off a 2 cd's for $5 table. So far my initial reaction is positive, nice melodic, pop-rock on the mellow side, with great background string arrangements on many of the songs. Rupert Hine produced this cd as well as Sheiks first album (seems like I like everything Hine is involoved in). Humming is very accessible and seemingly worthy of successive listens. How did the song "That Says It All" not become a huge radio hit?? Or was I just not listening to FM radio in 1998? It has all the trademark ingredients of a classic catchy, chart friendly, pop-rock number. BTW if anyone is familiar with this song, who is the "Mr. Drake" Sheik refers to in the lyrics in same context with Dylan, Lenon, Page, Hendrix, et al? Rick |
| Duncan Sheik is a huge Nick Drake fan | dbi May 15, 2001 1:30 PM | | and has even performed the entire Pink Moon album during at least one of his shows. The title of his new album, Phantom Moon, is said to be inspired by or a tribute to Nick Drake's Pink Moon. |
| He must be to place Drake in that company (nt) | RPM May 15, 2001 3:21 PM | | |
