| Any Gorky's Zygotic Mynci fans? | Chuck G Aug 24, 2001 11:24 AM | | Just heard a few cuts from the forthcoming CD. Proves there is always another band out there that is good that you have never heard of. |
| Sure! Who isn't? | Darius Aug 24, 2001 11:55 AM | | Umm, who? |
| New fan... | Stone Aug 24, 2001 12:15 PM | | Thanks to dbi's comps, I latched onto these guys and recently purchased Barafundle, which I'm liking a lot so far. It's very unique and they use a wide variety of instruments and sounds, while still being melodic.
I would guess that dbi probably knows more about them than probably anyone else around here, but I'm not sure if anyone else is into them or not.

| re: Any Gorky's Zygotic Mynci fans? | Snowbunny Aug 24, 2001 4:51 PM | | I, also, was exposed to this band by guess who? Yes, dbi. :-)
I really like the song he sampled on Sparkle 1 - Fresher Than Sweetness in Water, but I have yet to find the album in a store to preview.
In my opinion the sound has an updated sixties-folk sound, and that impression is reinforced by the other cut dbi included in Half Gone - This Summer's Been Good So Far. Long titles - Long name!
I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the whole album. I'm wondering if their charm might wear thin over the course of a whole album.

| How I Long to Feel That Summer in My Heart | dbi Aug 24, 2001 4:52 PM | | Yeah, I doubt many have heard of these Welsh guys. The new album is on my wish list but won't be out until Sept 18 last I heard and hopefully that's a US release date. I have the last album, Blue Trees, and have included a couple songs on recent comps as Stone said but it's kinda laidback and peaceful, not as quirky as some of the earlier stuff. I've been meaning to check out Spanish Dance Troupe which is said to be more like their fellow Welsh band, Super Furry Animals. Very high quality music played by accomplished musicians from what I have heard so far. It's fun to see their name showing up around here along with a lot of other obscure but very entertaining new artists :-)

| Hey, Dreamboat... (off topic - duh!) | Snowbunny Aug 24, 2001 5:09 PM | | Meet me at that thread where you give me "what-for" for your wishy-washy list. :-)
Give me a mintue to find it, though. I'm moving kind of slow today.
Sparkles
(Plus I gotta go see what Stone is up to... :-) |
| Be careful around Stone ... | dbi Aug 24, 2001 5:31 PM | | he's on the prowl now that his divorce is final. He's a bit young for you though, eh?
I had to step out for a few minutes but I'll meet you over by Tori, if that's where you are referiing to :-)
See ya, Sugarbunny |
| Actually... | Snowbunny Aug 24, 2001 5:38 PM | | I think someone may have already snatched him up! :-)
But I don't think she's a music geek! Bet she's the one he shares chocolate with... |
| I can clear this one up... | Stone Aug 24, 2001 5:46 PM | | Someone has snatched me up, but she's not who I share my chocolate with (I WAS trying to hide it from her - thanks :-)). You're right, she isn't a music geek, but she has taken an interest because I am, and she likes to make sh*t out of me because of my geekness.
Clear now?
Stone
P.S. I know this is rude, but just how old (errr, young) are you Snowbunny? |
| Oh crap! | Snowbunny Aug 24, 2001 5:58 PM | | I didn't think you'd actually read this post, Stone!
I'll discuss the "erm" age business in the other room, if you don't mind. :-)
And, btw, ARE YOU NUTS!? You're not supposed to share this site with significant others! You must really like her. :-)
Snowbunny
P.S. Don't forget you asked me to pick up some Girls for you tommorow! Hi Trin... just kidding! Sort of. |
| I can see your point.... | Stone Aug 24, 2001 6:13 PM | | I mean, I hardly spend ANY time around this web board, so chances are I wouldn't see my name in a post title or anything. And even if I saw it, why would I want to read it??? He he.
BTW, I do really like her, and if you get me in trouble it won't be pretty for you. Not a threat - just some friendly advice. :-)
Stone
BTW, are you talking about the old board when you say "other room"?

| Hi Snowbunny....... | Trin Aug 24, 2001 11:54 PM | | Hmmm....chocolates huh?? He's been holding out on me!!! LOL.
I admit it, I did snatch Stone right up. It took a huge net but I definitely consider him the catch of a lifetime ;).
I'm not a music geek but I enjoy reading everyone's posts and I even recognize some of the bands (ummm... once in a while, he he). After all, that is how I knew that Stone really liked me. He somehow found it in himself to look past my moronic knowledge of music and enjoy me anyways. I'm one lucky lady :).
Nice to meet you, Snowbunny.
Trin
P.S. Oh god.... not more girls!!! Especially if they're the kind that fit into his CD player. Those chicks always grab his attention. lol. |
| Hi Trin... | Snowbunny Aug 28, 2001 7:12 AM | | You're right, Stone is a sweetie! I'm really happy for you guys, and I'm very happy to have another girl on the board. Uh, you are female, eh? Trin is short for...
Snowbunny
(Just kidding Stone! Your Good Girls are on their way south
And Trin, I'll check back in a year or so to see if you still think Stone's "music habit" is charming. :-D |
| Let me check...... | Trin Aug 28, 2001 9:41 AM | | YEP!!! I AM a girl, although Stone likes to think I'm a 65 year old male ex-con - he has some strange fetishes..... (j/k hon).
Trin is short for Trinity. I'm much more of a movie buff than a music buff. Trinity is a character from "The Matrix". I'm inspired by chicks with power.
Trin
BTW, Charming is the wrong word for it - I prefer intriquing. :) |
