| Unbelievable! Best Buy is now my favorite record store. | Ms. Nomer Aug 24, 2001 1:19 PM | | My little quest for the day was to track down Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire "The Swimming Hour" and The White Stripes "White Blood Cells", so naturally, I head straight down to my local indy record store. This place has a fantastic used CD selection, no doubt because it's two blocks from Lehigh U campus. I bet half of those used CDs are from students trying to scrape up some beer money! Nope, never even heard of AB'sBoF, but to the owner's credit, he knew "White Blood Cells" was sold-out without having to check the inventory on the PC. The next town over there's another indy store. They changed owners a few years ago and now are basically worthless. Of course, they had neither. While I was looking for the White Stripes I noticed they only had three (three!) Who CDs! I can't see how they'll stay in business much longer. As a last-ditch effort I decided to try Best Buy...at the very least I could pick up some CD-Rs. Wow! Not only did they have both, they had all of the back-catalogs too. I snagged the last "White Blood Cells" but at least they had one. NP: "The Swimming Hour" (so far, so good). Next up, well, take a guess :-) |
| Gee, thanks for sharing Mssy... | Snowbunny Aug 24, 2001 4:28 PM | | now that you've snatched up the last copy of "White Blood Stripes"! Care to share the site address?
I'd love a copy of your "special" project. I hope you're going to drag that one out for a looong time! :-)

(Ahem! What's wrong with the Who!?) |
| What's wrong with the Who? | Ms. Nomer Aug 24, 2001 7:36 PM | | Nothing! My point was they had 3 out of what, 30 albums? And when I say 3, I mean 3 CDs! I suppose it could have been worse...it could have been 3 of the same CD! If you want a copy of "The Swimming Hour" and "White Blood Cells", they just may fit on one CD (I didn't check the total time of each but they both seemed to just fly by...this is a good thing!). Shhh... |
| Save your typing fingers Snowbunny... | maf Aug 27, 2001 1:10 PM | | I visited Best Buy a few days ago and was similarly impressed as Ms. Nomer. Ordered a bunch of stuff at incredible prices. Get to the check out and...Canadians need not apply. You must have an address in the USofA to take avdantage of their selection and prices. I do have a brother living in NYC so I still may be able to get some stuff.

| That's okay, | Snowbunny Aug 28, 2001 7:04 AM | | They don't have A&B sound, do they? I've found many of the classic albums that were mentioned on the Masterpiece thread for $7.99 or less, CAN.
Besides, those U.S. dollars suck!

| Too funny... | Ms. Nomer Aug 24, 2001 7:40 PM | | Quiet, we don't want everyone to know ;-) |
| I like Circuit City | #LB Aug 25, 2001 1:55 AM | | Same diff I guess. You wouldn't think a huge chain store employing 20-ish college students and drifters who know little to nothing about the gear they're selling or much anything else would be such a music source, but it is. I found the two Kansas remasters a CC, as well as my Best of Black Sabbath Import CD. They had a host of other remastered CD's as well. I found my Steely Dan remastered Can't Buy A Thrill there, and Heart's Dog & Butterfly special edition and Paul McCartney & Wings special edition also. Cicuit City rulz. (too much beer) |
