OK, who else is getting a bit envious of Rae's musical scope?RPM

editorial note:
The following was written, and is to be read, with complete sarcasm & tongue-in-cheek attitude and has absolutely no redeeming value. ;-)

Dear Mr. Rae,
I'm personally getting a bit envious of your wide encompassing musical scope and never ending ability to match and go "one-up" on every artist or piece of music that is discussed on this board. Yor recent comments regarding the band "Dirty Three" not only surprised me, but have resulted in me spending more of my hard (OK, maybe not-so-hard) earned money on yet another shiny silver disc.
Surely no individual has the right to posess this much knowledge or exposure to all music genres.
As a result, I have perused my collection in an attempt to "stump" you with something you haven't already heard or don't already own. Here it is; "Schoolhouse Rocks!" stolen (uh, borrowed) from my kids cd collection. scoff at this disc if you will, but it contains an outstanding song by Moby called "Verb; That's What's Happening" which I'm sure even YOU have never heard.

enviously yours,
Rick ;-) winky-wink
For his age, he does pretty well ;-) [nt]Masonjar

...Ween's cover of "Shot Heard 'Round the World," Pavement's "No More Kings," tracks by the Lemonheads, Biz Markie, Skee-Lo (!), and my absolute favorite, Blind Melon's "Three is a Magic Number"... I used to spin that disc a lot when it was new.

Seriously, you're too kind. Thanks for brightening my day.

The Skee-lo track is another of my favorites. Lets see if you can complete this lyric: "Mr. Morton is the subject of my sentence and what the predicate says he does; Mr. Morton walks, Mr. Morton Talks, Mr. Morton moves, Mr. Morton _______"
Grooves? ntskippy

I checked the lyrics when I got home, it's actually: "Mr Morton walks, Mr. Morton talks, Mr. Morton reads, Mr. Morton Loves"

I do!Rae

Honestly.

I don't have it with me here at work, and it's been awhile since I've listened to it, but I'm going to guess... "grooves"?

I should have read skippy's response first.

I don't remember!

What is it?

Mr. Morton LOVES! (it's the crux of the story and song)RPM

Your assignment tonight is to pull that disc out and listen to this track and Moby's "Verb" again. The Moby track is way too good to waste on kids.
My assignment is to find something in my collection that you've never heard. Did I send you a copy of my "Colour Of His Eyes" comp? There's gotta be stuff on there that's new to you!?

Wilco on the Moby track.

Yeah, you did send me that but to be honest I haven't devoted as much time to it as I'm sure it deserves. That will be my assignment for the next week.

Recently I was trying to be funny and said that one of the reasons I didn't like Ozma was that you likened them to Weezer.

Well, at the used store yesterday I saw a copy of Dealerships "Television Highway To The Stars" and picked it up to check the price. On the cover was a little review sticker, which is something I'd never seen before. Anyway, on the bottom it said that it will on occasion sound like The Posies, Weezer, and somebody I can't recall. If I connect all the dots, it would seem you are indeed up on this stuff.
