| Anyone heard the new Kansas CD | #LB Aug 25, 2001 2:58 AM | | Somewhere To Elsewhere is the name of the CD. I've only heard samples from CD NOW. com, and it sounds promising; or is that wishful thinking? |

It's very good.
Highly recommended.

I think it is the best KANSAS disc in the last 15 years.
The only downside is some of the vocals from Walsh are stretched to the limit..........he just physically can't hit the notes with the same clarity his voice had in the early days.
Dave is correct.....highly recommended. |
| That was my impression.... | #LB Aug 27, 2001 7:36 AM | | although all I've heard was a few snippets from CD NOW, Walsh's voice seems strained, but the music sounds like its straight off of Masque. I think I'll pick this one up. |
| That was my impression.... | MasterCylinder Aug 27, 2001 10:54 AM | | you should.
It sounds like it is right off Masque because Livgren wrote most of the $hit that is on there.....and you can tell.
Walsh strains on 1 or 2 songs......the rest of the time he sounds pretty good.
Robby and Billy (both) still sing great; in fact, track #6, where Billy Greer sings the lead, is a really good tune.
The sonics of this disc are incredible; as good as any "remaster" I ever heard. |
| Thanks for the opinion | #LB Aug 28, 2001 1:40 AM | | I'm glad to see Kansas get some good ink. They're in a genre of their own I think. They don't even get referenced on a certain prog site, and they are all but forgotten in mainstream. Page and Plant can come out with a so-so album and its all the rage. The Stones get airplay for the most banal sh!t. If you write songs about life and death, spiritual themes or metaphysical themes, your branded as pretentious; but if you always write and sing about yer d!ck (Aerosmith), then your geniuses. |
