| New Roland Orzabal!!!! | Cosmic Messenger Aug 26, 2001 6:51 PM | | I just heard a track off the up coming Roland Orzabal album titled: Tom Cats Screaming Outside, which is scheduled for release here in the USA next month. The track was called Low-life & if the rest of the album is this good, we're in for some GREAT new music! Orzabal's music has really evolved with the times... | Try this for a description | Jim Clark Aug 27, 2001 5:12 AM | | From the official website:
Welcome to the official Roland Orzabal website.
"Although Roland is best known as 'Tears For Fears' front man this site focuses on the present and that means 'Tomcats Screaming Outside'. Crafted at his home studio 'Neptune's Kitchen' this seminal new work from the master musician/producer who brought us songs such as 'Shout', 'Seeds of Love', 'Woman in Chains' and 'Elemental' marks a successful departure from the electronic pop sound of TFF.
Fresh and energised from producing Emiliana Torrini's album 'Love in the Time of Science', Roland felt inspired to write for himself without feeling obsessed with the past or constrained by dogma. In an interview with Uncut magazine he says, "Having made my statement with 'Raoul', I decided I didn't want to write about what's inside my head or my life any more. I just wanted to write about this and that. It's just a collection of stuff I've been working on these past three or four years, sketches, experiments. There's no overriding concept or theme this time."
'Tomcats Screaming Outside' is altogether more organic in composition and reflects Roland's current listening influences. There is more than a passing nod to the current crop of contemporary musical styles with Roland's use of innovative rhythms and programming derived from drum'n'bass, ambient techno and trip hop. Despite these new musical styles Roland's unique mellifluous voice remains, packing his lyrics with emotive power.

| That's funny... | #LB Aug 27, 2001 9:38 AM | | I liked the TFF stuff better than his solo stuff. Tears For Fears is one of very few '80s pop acts that have stood the test of time. |
| I think he's one of the best vocalists in rock music, and | Swish Aug 27, 2001 3:58 AM | | he's quite the guitar player, although he rarely shows it off. I'll be looking for this one. |
