How BIZARRE is this?Jim Clark
Dec 23, 2001 6:06 PM
I'll be brief so please bear with me.

I get home from a long weekend at the in-laws. The mailbox is crammed full, and I mean crammed. In with the other stuff is a package from BMG Music with a letter attached. I don't belong to BMG so I was suspicious. Asked my wife if she joined-she hadn't. So I opened the letter to see what they were trying to pull. The letter said that they had received some "material" that they didn't think was intended for them. They had my address so they forwarded it on to me. Even more curious, I open the package and it's one of MY Christmas Comps! The address of BMG was in IN, I don't recall anything being sent to Indiana. How on Earth did BMG Music end up with one of my comps? Why on earth would they take the time to send it back to me?

Bottom line is that I guess that I promised a comp to somebody and for whatever reason you aren't going to get it-sorry. I'm going to try to figure out who it is but I'm not sure I'll ever know for sure.

Very strange, indeed. I got my comp, so I'm accounted for, and I do appreciate it. I will listen to it on Christmas Day.

All the best to you and the family from me and my family.

I hope they don't try and bill you for it! That is whacky, I can't even conjure up a reasonable explaination for how that could have happened. I got my Clark Christmas comp in case your keeping tabs. In fact it's in the player right now (it was even before I read your message). Lot's of good unusual stuff on there. Off the top-o-my head I'll call the Sinead O'conner track (Silent Night?) a favorite.

Did I forget to tell you I signed you up so I could get some free CDs?Stone

Just kidding. That is really weird. Life is full of little suprises, eh?

So how was Omaha? Did you get to the Old Market? Did you get Blank Wave Arcade? Anything else? Man, I'm full of questions.

Also, I was listening to your Darkness comp, disc 2, yesterday and track 3, "Goodbye Horses" by Psyche sounded SO familiar it was eerie. Well, I've never heard of Psyche before your comp, but I knew the song and couldn't place it so I did a search on AMG. Turns out it is one of the songs on the Married To the Mob soundtrack, and performed by Q. Lazzarus. Do you have that soundtrack? If not, I highly recommend it as far as soundtracks/multiple artist releases go. It also has Sinead, New Order, Feelies, Eno, Debbie Harry, among others. I have heard it's not easy to find, but I'm not positive about that.

I was not able to get to the Old Market. I did manage to get to a place called Harry O's which is primarily a used vinyl store. Looking through the bins it's easier for me to understand the appeal of vinyl. Three bucks top for lp's in great shape and tough to find on CD. I only grabbed one CD as the selection was somewhat limited and they didn't take credit cards. Lightning Seeds "sense" was what appealed to me that day. Nice little CD.

Sadly that was it. Weather and the fact that my mother in-law planned pretty much planned every single minute of our stay put a damper on my shopping hopes. There will always be another time.
Check their future Xmas comp track choices very carefully!RickH

Evidently, word's been getting around about your great Chrismas comp, Jim and somehow, they managed to get a copy to sample but decided to send it back to you after playing it in their corporate offices :o)
Seriously, though, I have my copy and I've been meaning to ask you about the track listed as being by Jewel, I think it's No. 5, not sure at the moment, but is that really Jewel? The reason I ask is it's a really beautiful performance but it sounds more like Charlotte Church than popster Jewel. Happy Holidays!!
According to my brother it isJim Clark

My brother is the big Ave Maria fan and it was on his Christmas comp to me. I suppose anything is possible but I'll see him tonight and double check. I actually don't care much for the song but will admit that it's among the better versions I've heard.

Regards,
jc
