| Year-End Closet Clean-out | RickH Dec 27, 2001 7:45 AM | | I wanted to offer you guys/gals here this deal first. I've gone through many of my "never-play" CD's and have compiled a list of 40 CD's I'm selling as a package deal only (a very good deal, I might add). These are store-purchased, legitimate record label releases (No CD-R's). Email me if interested in checking out the list, price info, etc. |
| Hey, I've got a bunch of CDs to sell too! | dbi Dec 27, 2001 10:57 AM | | I was just working on a list to post at my site and I'll be expanding on it in the next few days. Probably will have two or three hundred of them by the time it's done. Need more space!
Not sure of the pricing yet but the list is <a href="http://public.surfree.com/davidi/cds4sale.htm"><b>here</b></a>.
If anyone else in the comp4trade family has a list they would like to post, just e-mail it to me and I'll convert it to HTML and post it. Or if you want to make it easier for me, send it in HTML format :-)

| !!! | Rae Dec 27, 2001 11:10 AM | | I'm definitely not in a purchasing mode right now, but I thought I'd peruse your list nonetheless... for the most part they aren't ones that would interest me either. Still, I've got to ask about a couple of them. Which Papas Fritas disc is that? I've got <i>Helioself</i> and I love it, so if that's a different one and you'd be interested in trading it for something, I'm game. Also, <i>Only Built 4 Cuban Linx</i>??? Sad to see that album leave your collection.
~Rae,
thinking I should bring myself to do some culling too...
...why do I own a Limp Bizkit album?... |
| www.half.com | Masonjar Dec 27, 2001 11:24 AM | | sometimes average people will be pay lots more than your local used shop will for cds that you don't listen to anymore.. I've had lots of luck unloading stuff in the past year..

| Papas Fritas | dbi Dec 27, 2001 12:36 PM | | It's their debut from 1995 on the Minty Fresh label. Actually a pretty good album and I remember thinking pretty highly of it at the time but I listened to it a few months ago and didn't do much for me so it's in the secondary storage rack and destined for the used bins :-)
I'm getting a little to old for the Wu Tang Clan and rap in general, but that is a great album.

| October Project | dbi Dec 27, 2001 12:29 PM | | Yeah, I know :-)
I bought that disc a few years ago after seeing a video of them performing one of the songs in a cave setting and it sounded kind of cool but I never came to appreciate it like some of you guys have. I've listened again on occasion due to all the good press it gets around here but just don't really like it that much. Nothing wrong with it but it doesn't excite me so might as well sell it. Lots of other similar stories on the list :-)

| But, but . . . | Troy Dec 27, 2001 11:39 AM | | . . . why don't you guys sell them off at a used CD store? Then you can just turn them into new CD's. Can't speak for Rick, but I know that within 30 miles of dbi there are several world class used stores. They'd probably give you 4-5 bucks a piece in trade and you don't have to mess with postage or people cherry picking the pile. |
| You're right ... | dbi Dec 27, 2001 12:39 PM | | and most of them are destined for CD Warehouse or Streetlight or one of the others, but I thought I would post the list here first as I'm working on it. I don't think many of the discs on the list would fetch $5 though. Some of them would, and I have some that might wind up on ebay because they are worth much more.
Thanks, Dave |
| But, but... | tj. Dec 28, 2001 7:58 AM | | ...what if ten years from now you find that you LIKE the stuff you're dumping today? And then you find that it's out of print and you've gotta pay big bucks just to get it back? Isn't comforting to know that at a moment's notice you can reach into your stash and pull out this material and give it a spin?
Hoard hoard hoard is my motto. Never mind that ya gotta rent out a mini storage to keep the pots, pans, dishes, furniture and all those other non-essential household items in to make room for the records, CDs and tapes. |
| Doctor Nerve, Cuniform | Masonjar Dec 28, 2001 12:08 PM | | Have you heard/heard of Doctor Nerve? It's an ensemble founded by a NYC jazz guitarist/composer named Nick Didkovsky. They've put out several albums on Cuniform, I'm sure he must have been on that comp. His stuff (from what I remember of it) is very angular and spazzy, but kind of tuneful as well.. I once did a college radio show featuring mostly experimental rock and jazz music.. I remember playing a lot of Cuniform and Knitting Factory stuff! (this is when I also first discovered Univers Zero) The Doctor Nerve albums I keep an eye out for are <i>Beta 14 Ok</i> and <i>Armed Observations</i>..
