| Happy New Year everyone. | Stone Dec 31, 2001 12:41 PM | | I'm going to get a little personal (but not TOO much), so if you don't want to read about it, stop now (or you can read it and then post that I'm an emotional pansy if you like too :-)).
This year has been the hardest of my life so far. I went through a divorce that beat me down considerably. Divorce is never easy, and I know there have been a lot worse than mine, but it was hell nonetheless. It's been hard, and I'm really ready for this effin year to be over.
However, music, this board, trading comps, and especially the comradery around here have been very good and therapeutic for me (and seemingly very costly as I easily bought more music this year than any other :-)). I want to thank you all for the kindness, fun, and knowledge that you've given to me and this "community."
Here's hoping that everyone has a great 2002.
Stone
P.S. I don't mean to imply that this year was all bad other than the music. I've developed a great relationship with my son and got to help raise him and watch him grow and learn, and I met Trin, a wonderful person who for some crazy reason has taken an interest in me and my addiction. |
| Happy New Year to you too... | Rae Dec 31, 2001 1:10 PM | | ...ya emotional pansy.
Thus ends a year in which you were one step ahead of me on every cool indie rock record. Your Slow Summer Sampler and Aggro Autumn Appetizer have gotten far and away the most spins in my player this fall (along with maf's Wire comp) and practically caused me to go broke buying all of the source discs (and I still don't even have the Lucksmiths or the New Year (or Frisbie! Frisbie! Frisbie!)). Anyway, thanks for turning me on to so much good stuff.
BTW, finally (FINALLY!) there are a number of discs on their way to you. Watch your mailbox.

The New Year and The Lucksmiths are both great...especailly The New Year (playing now). I'm with you there on SSS and Aggro. Let's hear it for Stone. Hip hip hooray.

| Happy New Year everyone. | Swish Dec 31, 2001 3:04 PM | | Here's to 2002, may it be better for you than 2001. You really do have the music stuff down pat, maybe a little tweaking here and there will make the rest just as good. It's been fun "chatting" with you and trading comps this year, Stone. Let's keep it going next year. NP: The Lucksmiths (I have to pull out your Slow Summer Sampler tonight for my New Year's Eve party) |

| Happy New Year to all as well | DLD Dec 31, 2001 4:16 PM | | Speaking globally, I hope this evening goes off well without incident and personally to all you great folks here, I hope everyone has a great night and a great coming year!
Stone, on Inherit The Wind yesterday there was some dialogue that kinda seems appropriate here. It went along the lines of "when we gain something, we often lose a part of something else". I think the opposite is true as well, that when we lose soemthing, there can be soemthing gained as well and maybe the closer relationship with your son is one of those gains. Don't mean to be melodramatic or anything, its just that dialogue was still bouncing around in whats left of my brain and it seems appropriate here. Have a great New Year Stone.
NP. Claude Bolling's Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano (accompanied on Flute by Jean Pierre Rampal). Pretty cool, I feel like a beatnik |

| Happy New Year to you too. | Trin Jan 1, 2002 12:37 PM | | Stone...
Meeting you has definitely been the highlight of my year. I may be crazy but not for taking an interest in you. Let 2001 go and look forward to 2002, it looks so promising.
Love ya, Trin
BTW, You know I'm making a copy of that wonderful person statement for future use - right?? |
