Hello Folks,

I was given a very interesting comp disc called the Rebirth of Cool vol. 2, in this disc there is a track called "Spock with a Beard" by a band called Palmskin Productions (produced by Simon Richard). All I can say is that it has probably the best sax I've listened for a looong time. Does anybody know if this band has any more albums than just this track?

Christopher

I'm checking out AMG, looks like a very fun site....

The track though, appears to be a one off thing, Still I love the 120MPH sax on that compilation.

I'll have to check out remilixir though, it appears to be one heck of an album.

As for other good tunes, I recommend St. Germain "Tourist" (on my software wishlist).

I really love the Tricky and Aswad tracks too .. That was the first Tricky song I heard ('Aftermath') and led to checking out his first album 'Maxinquaye'... I just looked on www.allmusic.com for Palmskin Productions and they do have a few albums.. there's a little article about them there... you might want to check it out. Just plug in Palmskin Productions as the artist and search.. Hope this helps.

This might sound dumb, but have you heard Massive Attack? They are my favourite Trip Hop band by far. I also like Maxinquaye quite a lot. I'm also after the other albums in the "Rebirth of cool" series, I have heard them and they are all just as good as Vol. 2

Check them out in this order:
Protection
Blue Lines
No Protection (Massive Attack remixed by Mad Professor)

These albums are all excelent. Another ear opener is Portishead "Dummy"

Well, I have pretty much everything Massive Attack has released, I'd say that Mezzanine is definately my favorite. Protection is their 2nd album, came out originally in 1995, so it's quite a bit different, though I think you'd still enjoy it (it's not as dark).. then going way back to their first album Blue Lines, I would say definately try to hear it before you buy it. It's a classic of the genre, and was pretty much the first trip-hop album, but it's a light year away from Mezzanine. Not dark at all really, and very "clubby," for lack of a better term. Another album you might want to check out is No Protection, which is the Protection album remixed by the Mad Professor. It's one of my favorite instrumental releases of the last decade (I actually heard this before I heard the original album). I would say, definately get Protection and if the spirit moves you, check out the remix too..
