Hey maf (and other GYBE fans) are you interested in Dirty Three?RPM

I borrowed a disc by Dirty Three (self titled). Pretty good stuff and VERY reminicent of GYBE. I burned 4 tracks from the cd for myself. Let me know by tomorrow (if possible) if anyone wants to check the band out and I'll send a copy of the 4 track promo cdr.

I recall someone on this board asking about Mercury Rev, was it you? Got your e-mail, the Dirty Three disc will be on it's way shortly.

Well, I COULD have added a few MRev tracks on the CDR I sent, but now it's too late. It's already enroute to you. :-( Maybe next time.

Low + Dirty ThreeRae

Here's a connection I know you will love, Mark: Low and Dirty Three collaborated way back in 1999 on Volume 7 of Dutch record label Konkurrent's In the Fishtank series, which just saw a stateside release this year. I know you dig Low and I can tell you that the album is well worth seeking out. They run through six songs including a cover of Neil Young's "Down by the River".

Get this latest D3 record and work backwards into them.
I think you'll find a lot of great stuff.
Just another post supporting Australian music.

Ok don't get mad at me for asking since they're New Zealanders, but they're closer to you than me :) I sent a copy recently to ChrisNZ, but I figured they probably play in Aus sometimes.. have you heard em?

I think it was all the non-music filler stuff on that album that made it such a tough initial listen for me. When they actually played music I liked them. What I ended up doing was "trimming the fat" so to speak. I made a copy of the copy you sent me eliminating the non-music. I also completely left off one of the tracks (can't remember which, I think it was a static song though). So what I now have left over, I enjoy much more than the whole.

I'm sure GYBE would not be happy to hear that I dissected their music, but it was unlikely that I would have listened to the entire thing. I think I sent the copy which you made for me to Audiobill.

As far as the cdr of Dirty Three goes, I ordered the "In The Fish Tank" disc that Rae recomended. After it arrives I'll throw a few tracks from it along with the 4 tracks from Dirty Three onto a cdr and whip that out to you. Should be in a coupla weeks, sound good?

Rick
Doesn't sound good...SOUNDS GREAT. (nt)maf
