King Crimson: Vrooom Vrooom (live-2001)3-LockBox

I have been wanting to jump into the Crim fray for some time now. I had a few buddies that (back in the day)owned various Crim albums and while I wasn't really into prog in those days, I'd like to see if I'm missing anything. I heard a few songs on the radio from Thrak that I liked, and I also like some of the songs from the '80s and '70s. The Crim canon is so vast and diverse that I've shied away from any best of comps that are out in stores. Then, while parousing CDNow, I saw this new disc, Vrooom Vrooom, which doesn't say so, but sounds like a live album (2-disc). I've read good things about the '95 live release, B'BOOM. Is this new release better? Anyone know what I'm writing about?

Why would I choose a live album for my first venture into King Crimson? I like the song selection on the Vrooom Vrooom set, at least there is more that I'm familiar with, and I like the idea of a live set because its inclusive of all 3 decades, performed by the same group of musicians, making for a more cohesive comp IMO. Other comps I've heard from bands that span the decades are all over the place, and too short. Now the Stones you can do that with, maybe even Yes, but not Crimson, not from what I've heard from other attempts. I know that much of Crim's catalog has been re-issued, but I have a problem with trying to put together a collection by buying a bunch of 35 minute albums. Any insight as to this live album or others would be appreciated.
Absent Lovers is another good live 2 cd set(nt)HYFI
