Looking for a Jah Wobble EP...desade
Apr 18, 2002 7:57 PM
I used to have an ep by Jah Wobble, Holgar Czukay (sp?) and the Edge. Don't remember the name of any of the songs, but the one that featured the Edge was very cool from what I remember. Came out in '83-'84 I would guess.

Anyone have this or remember it? I would love to have a copy of it.

...as I only have it on vinyl, but I believe I know of what you speak...they used to play it on a local radio station all the time (WHFS)..._Snake Charmer_, baby! (Tell me if this link works: )

It was Snakecharmer. I remember me and a friend getting into this in our 'everything U2' phase. Anything we could get our hands on by a band that U2 mentioned in an interview, opened for them or contained one of the members. Paid off, I got into the Waterboys that way, still love them, whereas, I wish U2 would've disappeared about 20 years ago.

I went through that, too. Did you get the soundtrack from "The Captive" by the Edge, with special guest appearance by Sinead?

And, of course, long after that bout, but still the best of the bunch, is the "other two"'s version of the theme from Mission Impossible. Right up there with Cure's version of "Purple Haze", Devo's version of "Satisfaction", and Oingo Boingo's version of "You Really Got Me" as one of the greatest covers of all time.

I do somewhat remember that soundtrack with The Edge and Sinead, but never picked it up. I DID NOT like the Mission Impossible theme by Larry and Adam, even though I was glad to see something by the 'other two'. (sort of like seeing something by Ace Frehley and Peter Criss).

Although, I heard that Keith really loved Devo's version of Satisfaction, I always thought it was a little goofy, and I've never heard Oingo Boingo do You Really Got Me.

Now, Sinead doing that song with Jah Wobble was very good (Visions Of You?) and the song for the movie, 'In the Name Of The Father'(?), 'You Made Me The Thief Of Your Heart'(?) was very cool as well.

I have an album called FULL CIRCLE by Czukay, Wobble and Liebezeit. It came out on Virin in 1980 or so.. As you can imagine, it's a bit Can-ish, but also has quite a bit of dub influence from Jah Wobble as well..

It's a pretty cool album.
