| Saw the Moody Blues last night | BarryL Apr 19, 2002 6:34 AM | | And it was, for the most part, really great. I've seen the band about four times before, but this time they were really tight and really in form. They played all of their hits from the '80s and 90's, plus, of course, Nights In White Satin, The Actor, I'm Just A Singer In a R&R Band, Legend of a Mind, Ride My See-Saw, For My Lady, Questions, Tuesday Afternoon.
Justin Hayward is a very under-rated guitar player. They played with two keyboard players and two drummers (whoever it was that said that Graeme Edge was the luckiest drummer in the world was right ). The boys were in great form on the vocals and harmonies. The crowd of about 5000 gave them at least four standing ovations at various points in the show. It was great fun. I hope Hayward and Lodge can produce more great songs soon. |

They do a great show and they ain't no young tykes, either. Did they still have the dancing back-up girls? That added a nice visual element to the show :o) I agree that Justin is an under-rated guitar player and I think "Strange Times" was basically overlooked by everyone except long-time fans but it's got some of their strongest material in years. |

As to the female back-up singers - nope. I thought that they had female back-up singers (3) when I saw them last (probably around '97), but then I concluded that it must have been another band I was thinking of. But I guess not. They were up on a stand at the back of the stage behind Patrick Moraz. Thanks for confirming that. |
