| Should I make up a solo Pete Townshend comp? (JC?) | RPM Apr 19, 2002 7:31 PM | | I have a vague recalection of a conversation with ?Jim Clark? about making up a solo Pete Townshend comp. How much interest would there be in this? If it was you Jim, are you still interested?
Did I promise anyone else any music that I haven't come through on? Sorry, the drinking is affecting my memory {:-P
FYI, these are the Townshend albums I'd be pulling the material from:
Empty Glass (Atlantic gold remaster)
All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes (vinyl)
Scoop (vinyl)
White City: A Novel
Pete Townshend's Deep End Live!
The Best of Pete Townshend

| Well, if the songs are that good, then yes...silly boy | Slosh Apr 19, 2002 8:28 PM | | I'd like a copy but I don't know what to trade with just yet. Just as soon as I let the alcohol wear off I may have some ideas. Does this mean it's a go? |
| Not for me, but . . . | Troy Apr 19, 2002 8:42 PM | | . . . make sure you put the killer inside tracks like "Exquisitely Bored", "Jools and Jim" and "Crashing By Design" on there though. |
| re: Should I make up a solo Pete Townshend comp? (JC?) | J Apr 20, 2002 2:18 AM | | Definitely interested. BTW if you want anything from Rough Mix, I have the record & I CDR'd it awhile back. I could shoot you any or all songs if you want. |
| Hello! | Jim Clark Apr 20, 2002 3:16 AM | | don't worry about the memory. See the Steve Hoffman thread below.
Yes, I'd be interested. Thank you. Just so you know that I'm not a total slacker, I do have "Empty Glass" and "All The Best Cowboys" on cassette. Nothing on CD though. A comp sounds like just the ticket.
While I don't have anything on hand, I do have three comps on the drawing board and you stand a good chance of actually liking one. It shouldn't be too long now.
thanks for the offer.

| What about... | wik Apr 20, 2002 11:59 AM | | Who Came First...Townshend's first solo - Pure and Easy, Forever's No Time At All, Let's See Action, Time is Passing, Sheraton Gibson, Parvardigar Psychoderelict...Not a great disc but Now and Then is a Great Townshend tune The Secret Policeman's Ball...killer acoustic version of drowned |
| OK, it's a go...all who replied look here: | RPM Apr 20, 2002 5:23 PM | | Slosh:
I beleive I'm in the IOU department wrt comps, so no reciprocation required....this time around anyway ;-).
Troy:
Exquisitely Bored: affirmative!
Jools and Jim:....maybe??? Such a tough album to pick only a few tracks from. Also, this is the album most RR'ers will likely already own, so I don't wan't to overload the comp with too many cuts from it. I'll have to give it a spin this week to help decide.
Crashing By Design: OK, fine choice, I can do that. :-)
J:
absolutely! Please send me a copy of the album! An e-mail will follow....
Jim:
slacker??? After that motherload of cdr's you sent for me and my kids?! You gotta be kidding. Plus there was "Unpop" which gets occasional spinage. I actually started writing a review of Unpop, then I became a slacker and never finished it up. If I kept it as a WORD doc, it's probably at work, I'll check up on it.
i'll keep an eye open for your next comp whenever it's done.
nobody:
When townshend comp is done, I'll post the tracklist on the board, and ask again who wants a copy.
wik:
I'm limited by what I have in my collection. However I think I do have "Secret Policemans Ball", forgot about that one, thanks for the reminder!

| oops, J.... | RPM Apr 20, 2002 5:37 PM | | Looks like comp-4-trade is down, Can you shoot me an e-mail so I can get your e-addy??
mili224@bellatlantic.net
thanks, Rick |
| Great idea, Rick | TodH Apr 22, 2002 5:31 AM | | especially if you get some of the tunes from the Secret Policeman show.
If you need any tunes from Pete Townshend Live: A Benefit for Maryville Academy I can send you a disk.
It has the duet with Eddie Veder: "Heart to Hang On To".
lmk,
Todd |
| I'd like to have that even if it doesn't make the comp... | RPM Apr 22, 2002 8:02 AM | | At this point it's going to be tough to narrow down the list from what I've already got, and I think a 2 cdr set would be a bit much, but if you don't mind sending me a copy I'll see if there's room. I assume you've still got my snail mail and e-addy? If not, let me know which you need. Rick |
| You got it | TodH Apr 22, 2002 9:14 AM | | let me know if the Prospect address has changed.
Todd |
| Mrs. Hyfi would probably like one. | HYFI Apr 22, 2002 8:48 AM | | As an old time Who fan I'll request one for her.
Thanks |
| re: Should I make up a solo Pete Townshend comp? (JC?) | Chuck G Apr 22, 2002 11:44 AM | | Rough Mix-Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane...Some killer tracks on this as well. |
| I think that would be swell | 3-LockBox Apr 22, 2002 1:09 PM | | Though, I myself wonder if I actually have anything that you'd want. My own comp ideas lean towards the pop side. |
| no. that's a bad idea, Rick. | Rae Apr 22, 2002 1:24 PM | | In fact, it's the worst idea I've heard all week. Please do not make this comp.

| OK then, I'll make up a special comp just for you Rob... | RPM Apr 22, 2002 6:15 PM | | Instead of a solo Townshend comp, I'll make you a solo Moon comp! Hehehe. |
| lol! (nt) | Rae Apr 22, 2002 6:26 PM | | I'm laughing too hard to say something witty. |
