Hey Rae, did I misrepresent Wilco to my friend?Snowbunny

We'll be going to see them in concert soon, and my friend had never even heard of them. So he asked me to describe them, which I found a little difficult. So he says, "As long as I can dance to them, I'm happy." "Oh yeah," I say, "you can definitely dance to Wilco." :-)

Were people dancing to Wilco in Minneapolis, Rae?

They definitely have some stuff you can bop to, but for the most part the concert was pretty somber and introspective. I don't know where they're playing up north, but here it was an old theater with nice seats, and people mostly stayed in them. The encore was loaded with upbeat numbers, so that at least should have you dancing in the aisles.

PS. Guess who I saw in Madison, WI two nights ago... a show that definitely had people up out of their seats...
How long were you in Madison?Stone

Damn, I was there Wed. and Thurs. nights. I didn't realize you were going.

I was actually only there one night (Saturday). We got into town early Saturday afternoon and left around dinnertime on Sunday.

Hey, you should have mentioned you were going to the Westerberg show. The fact we don't have a whole lot in common musically wouldn't have gotten in the way of me giving a fellow RR regular some helpful pointers about how to maximize his enjoyment on the trip to Madtown. Same with you, Stone. Unless, of course, either of you were among the lucky bastards who snaked tickets to the sold-out Great Taste of the Midwest Beer Festival, which I missed this year for the first time in half a decade. :-(

Where did you go, what did you do and see, and did you like Madison?
Oh, oh, looks like its private dancing time ;-)Snowbunny

Actually we'll be seeing them in a cabaret-style venue, with a dance floor, and an open bar, so hopefully there'll be some people dancing.

Now, how did WStan know you saw Paul Westerberg!!!

Snowie, it's either:

1) I'm a clairvoyant stalker

or

2) I live in Madison and I have a thumb on the city's cultural pulse like a surgeon monitoring a heart transplant patient... er.... ok, actually, I occasionally read the newspaper and our free weekly.
So which is it? I'm still waiting...Snowbunny

Hey, is your e-name really WhineyStan?!? That's hilarious! Did DC guess that, or did he already know?

:-)

Almost - it's WhinyStan. A couple of years ago I needed to set up a Hotmail account to access my home e-mail account remotely and I tried a log-in name. It was taken. I tried another. It was taken also. I then tried another and another and another, all with no luck. I could not believe that every name I could think of that sounded remotely non-dorky that I could easily remember (i.e. didn't have 17 random numbers in it) was already grabbed up by one of the millions of other Hotmail users. I was getting frustrated, when my cat Stan decided that he was bored or deserved milk, tuna and/or catnip (forgetting that in his 11 years of life, I have never once given in to his begging) and began whining outside my study door. The rather dim mental light bulb flickered, and thus was born my e-mail monicker. To show you how thin the pickings are for Hotmail account names, someone else was already using plain old "whinystan" as their name.
That's funny... umm guy with old cat! :-)Snowbunny

Why would anyone name a cat Stan? Tee hee...

Yeah, hotmail sucks when it comes to picking nicknames. I once needed an anonymous email address, and didn't have much time, so I picked what I thought was the least likely chosen moniker - BeergutGuy! I gave up after BeergutGuy 2001! Same deal for BeerbellyGuy, BeerbellyDude, well, you get the idea. :-)

Well, I really wanted to call him Mr. Furrykins, but then I realized I'd have to disavow romantic relationships, most other interpersonal ones, buy catfood by the 50lb bag, acquire 76 additional cats, and wear clothes and eyeglasses from 1982, so I gave up on that dream.

Real answer: he looks like a Stan. People who have questioned the name before and have subsequently met him agree that Stan is the only name for him.
ROTFLMAO!!! Hahahahahahaha!Snowbunny

You are a wit, Mr. Furrykins!
