Rush Remasters - - Abandoning my principlesMr MidFi

Like many of you, I have this love/hate thing with the whole remaster thing...i.e. why didn't they just master it well the first time? But up until now, on general principle, I had never gone out and purchased a remaster of a CD I already had. Sure, I've bought plenty of fine remasters to replace vinyl and/or cassette, and a few remastered "best of" collections (like Echoes and Sultans of Swing), but never could make myself buy one I already had.

Then, this weekend, I finally broke down and spent the $12 on Moving Pictures. What pushed me over the edge? Listening to my recently-purchased remastered Permanent Wave. It spoiled me rotten. Ya know, why suffer in silence every time you put on an old fave...knowing it could sound alot better for just a little $.

Anybody else resisted the temptation this long? If not, what title finally made you give in?

For the bands I like most, I always buy new remasters.

I wait only until I have the dough.
