Renewed passion for XTC: Here's why:Dave_G

This weekend I bought three more of the excellent Japanese mini-lp cd 24 bit remasters.

Got Mummer, The Big Express, and Nonsvch.

They were only $9.99 each after a few coupons.

Troy hates these packages but I love them.

Mostly I love the refreshed sound.

These gall-dang remasters smoke.

Mummer is WAY cleaner and clearer than the original.

Big Express - haven't played it yet.

Nonsvch - I have always loved this title, and this remaster makes it shine like a dove. Oooh than bass now is so clean and crisp.

All the lead vocals are much imporved. Subtle nuances are great.

These cd's are great.

I'm stressing over though as to if I should get Skylarking and Oranges...Lemons, as I already have the MFSL versions...

Drums and Wires hopefully will show up in the store.

Anyway, these remasters have refreshed my love for XTC, man, they are something else.

They are great Dave. I have the box set, which has some great demo stuff, plus 4 of the Japaneese versions,,,,Skylarking, Oranges and Lemons, English Settlement and Black Sea. I'll probably add The Big Express and Nonsuch and stop at that. I've also seen these same remastered disc in the conventional slipcase but they cost $1 more than the slim versions.

I only really got into XTC with the Apple Venus CD's so I am not really buying anything again other than Skylarking. I also have the Upsy Daisy collection but I see no need to replace any greatest hits with what I already have.

If you liked those, you should hear the MOFIs...Audio Girl

although pricier, they have incredible sonics. Unfortunately, I am having to sell my entire collection to raise funds for the new CD Player. :-(

Are you talking vinyl or CD? Just XTC MOFIs or others?

I just might be interested in some of those titles (if the price is right, of course :-)).

You have VU for sale too? What else you been holding out on me about?? I may buy all the XTC and the VU too. Let me think about it, and if you get a buyer in the mean time, no problem.

Also, I assume you're talking about the XTC album Mummer and not the R.E.M. album Murmur, or am I wrong? I'm not trying to be an ass (I know, hard to believe), just trying to make sure we're clear.

It sounds soooooooooo much better.

Love the packaging too, except for Big Express which really is kind of a pain in the ass.
