Retro comps page updated and why I blow off your emailJim Clark
Aug 13, 2002 2:09 PM
Was able to get everything I'm aware of up on the page this morning. I will continue to do so as long as I am able. You can email me or post them here, I don't care.

I want to apologize for not acknowledging some comps sent my way recently, I did get them and will thank you personally as soon as I am able. I look forward to feeling good enough to listen to music. Yes, I 'm feeling that poorly.

Several of you have emailed me with questions, best wishes and such. It is appreciated and I wish I could respond to each one in the manner that I know I should. I don't want to shroud it in mystery but what's going on is basically a private matter. I don't mean to be rude but trust me, you don't want to hear it anymore than I want to talk about it.

I will say that it is not in any way contagious so you don't need to worry about touching stuff I may have sent you. It is an inherited condition that I've pretty much kept at bay with med's the past five years and recently was forced to change since they quit working. Suffice it to say, the new ones not only aren't working but making things a whole lot worse.

I post this for one reason only, I don't want people to think I'm blowing them off without a reason. Everybody has been very nice to me, a stranger, over the years and I would regret it if someone misunderstood my lack of response.

Regards,
jim clark

Why are you reading this...go get well!RPM
Aug 13, 2002 2:49 PM
Well, in case you're still reading...I sincerely hope things aren't quite as bad as the tone of your post, it sounds frightening. I realized a while ago that I "talk" to people here at Raverecs far more frequently than I do my good "real-life" freinds and relatives, so Jim, I (we) consider you a freind and buddy, and hope that whatever this illness is, you'll get it under control.

Thanks for the update, be well, and talk to you soon. :-)

And whatcha talking about - stranger!?! Like Tricky Ricky, I also consider you a freind, Jim. Why I'll even go one step further and spell it correctly, my friend. ;-)

My heart goes out to you, Jim, honey. If there's anything I can do to lighten your load, you only need ask.

Now, more than ever, I appreciate all the work you do maintaining the Comp4Trade2 webpage. I don't know much about websites, but if there's anything I can do to help you maintain the site, until you're up and running again, please let me know. Even if its only a link on your website. I'm sure with the help of our friends here, I can figure it out.

There's been an empty spot on the board since you stopped posting Jim, and I look forward to seeing you back here soon. In the meantime, we'll keep your spot warm till you feel better.

Perservere, Jim. You will feel better one day. Promise.

That's really bad news Jim. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Look after yourself and get well ASAP.

Good to know I don't have to fumigate your comps ;-) Which reminds me that I owe you one and it's bound to be just the tonic you need!

Oh yeah, we're all strangers here. Some exceedingly so.

Best wishes, Chris.

As I grow older, more and more of my friends and family are having some serious health problems, and it's making me crazy. One poor guy just had surgery for a tumor on his thyroid, which they removed completely, then they found one on his stomach, so back to surgery. He should be ok, but it was frightening. He's a good friend and racquetball partner, and really takes care of himself. My sister was just in the hospital with a kidney ailment, and thankfully, it looks like she'll be fine. The worst is my wife's uncle, a truly great man, who is more like a father to my wife than her jackass of a dad ever was. He's in the advanced stages of Parkinson's Disease, and isn't long for this world. This will be very tough time for us.

My thoughts will be with you, Jim. Nothing we have is more important than our health. Nothing else matters so much when you're sick. And I certainly don't consider you a stranger, but a real friend. Sure we've never met, but that doesn't matter to me. If there's anything I can do, please let me know.

Regards,

Your friend Paul

You...a stranger? I think not, at least around here. Take care; I have great confidence that you will be feeling much better very soon. And if it doesn't conflict with your meds, pop over to the General Board and I'll be glad to buy you a cold one or three at the P&B.

Just keep hanging in there. I've been through some medical stuff too with a genetic thing. I tried tons of different meds over the years until recently, within the last year, I finally found a new drug that actually works. So keep the faith, keep trying new things. Even if the solution to your problem isn't out there right now, it may be out there soon. Good luck and take care of yourself.

Everybody has been very nice to me, a stranger, over the years and I would regret it if someone misunderstood my lack of response.

You have brought many of us much joy...thru your enjoyment of music and thru your kindness shown here at AR. The respect and friendship many have given you, over the years, was brought upon yourself...by yourself. It was YOUR love for music and for the people here at AR that brought others closer to you.
Some of us may have actually met you at one time or another...others have not...many of us have only "talked" with you at this discussion board. To us, all the people at AR...you are many things...but a stranger, you are not.

Take care of yourself friend!

sincerely,
Dan
All I can do is wish you a speedy solution, Jim. Thanks. (n/t)BarryL

That royally sucks, Jim. A guy like you doesn't deserve to have these troubles (heck, nobody does (er, nobody as in no one; don't mean to imply that our friend nobody deserves to be ill)). As you can see by the number of responses to this thread already, your presence is sorely missed on the board. Keep us posted and we'll keep pulling for you.

jc- of course we've missed your insightful reviews and humorous posts, but you do what you need to get well. You were my first friend on this board and you were never a stranger. Your kindness and generosity is what got me interested in exploring music again, not to mention my new found love of The Ramones!!! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Sending positive thoughts toward Kansas...

Jim-

Very sorry to hear about the struggles you are going through. Prayers for a speedy resolution in acquiring the proper medication(s) and a quick recovery are on their way to Kansas from the Pacific Northwest. You are a big part of the reason that RR is a "special place on the web".
