Police's Synchronicity similar to '80s King Crimson IMO3-LockBox

Does anyone else hear a similarity?

I just bought the remastered version of Synchronicity; it is an improvement, but won't blow you away.

Does anyone else have the other Police remasters?

I've got the Message In A Box which is the same remastering as the individual discs. The Synchronicity tracks had a slightly tighter, punchier low end on Copeland's bass drum compared to the MoFi disc. A lot of MoFi's discs sound a little diffuse in the low end to me, anyway. Overall, there wasn't much difference between the two.

I never thought of any similarities between Synchronicity and 80's KC but it makes sense the more I think of it. There was the African influenced synth percussion in "Walking In Your Footsteps", Summer's angular, atonal solo in "Mother". Guitar synths are the real common denominator here, they were all the rage at the time (see ZZ Top's Tejas) before most people lost interest and the market fell through in the late 80's. I still think Metheny is the all time synth guitar master.
