OK Audiogirl, here’s what I can offer you...RPM
Aug 14, 2002 4:44 PM
And it ain't much! Sorry dear, but my vinyl collection is...ahem..."limited". First off, the 2 discs which I'm willing to part with and have some level of value:

John Coltrane - Blue Trane (direct to disc on 180 gram vinyl)
Gino Vanelli (not to be confused with Milli Vanilli) - Powerful People (stop laughing!) MFSL pressing

Well that's about it for "collectible" stuff, the following are regular old pressings of albums which I've replaced with cd's so you can have more than one (if you can find more than one that you want). LP condition available upon request:

Queen - The Game
Heart - Little Queen
Talking Heads - Little Creatures
Best of The Alan Parsons Project
Queen - News of the World ( a great album, just ask pwrpopguy)

OK, that's about it wrt vinyl, the following are cd's which I'm willing to part with:

John Gorka - Out of the Valley
Bare Naked Ladies - Maroon
Blur - Parklife
Gang of Four - Mall
Soho - Goddess
Best of the Velvet Underground

Let me know if any of this stuff interests you.

Rick

Let's bet two new/used CDs (I'm into those now, ya know) of the winner's choice that can be found for $25.00 (including shipping) online. So, in essence, Mr. RPM, are you willing to wager $25.00 against a sport that you do not have any knowledge of ;-)???? Well, I am, Sam.

So, come on, are ya game? The CLIMAX to our anticipation will occur on 9/22 in the City of Brotherly Love. You already have the advantage.

I'm a graceful gambler, aren't are??? :-)

Mary
Heck, that should have been: aren't I? (nt)Audio Girl

Hey Susan, sorry for the little dig below ;-). So was it the #$%^@ in the subject line that threw you? That happens when I compose my messages in M/S Word, then copy-n-paste them into a Raverecs thread. Any commas, quotations, or dashes get converted to weird characters???? I usually catch most of them, but some slip by.

Or was it the vinyl terminology that was fuzzy to you?

Trick
I'm never talking...uh typing to you again, Tricky!Snowbunny

Pigskin and vinyl, eh? Wasn't there a song in the seventies called that? :-)

I'm a little fuzzy on both, its true. :-)

Might as well join the club, I'm already getting the silent treatment from RaeRPM

So, let me get this straight...RPM
Aug 15, 2002 2:50 AM
and I'll try and talk real slow so the bunny can follow...;-)

If the Cowboys win, you tell me 2 cd's/LP's you're interested in ($25 max) and I order them and have them shipped to you? Maybe a gift certificate from a mutually acceptable vender would be easier? either way I guess that works.

Bring on Aikman and the "Boys"...Oh yeah, he's a commentator now...:-)

P.S.: I can't beleive you're passing up on that mofi Gino Vanelli ;-)
Yeah, that works for meAudio Girl

Do you think the bunny understands our terms? ;-)

Tee hee hee... Sorry guys, but I've had to read my share of posts about gonads! ;-)

Whatcha think, Audio Babe?

Hey Audio Girl, here's a little something you may enjoy from the January 2001 issue of the Perfect Sound Forever e-zine at http://www.furious.com/perfect/vinyl24.html - sorry, I know you were talking mainly about the CD sound quality but I couldn't help embellishing it just a tad with some bold italics :-)

Best New Release In The LP Format

Last year I complained about the relative dearth of vinyl new releases. This year was an embarrassment of riches! I actually wrote quite a few record reviews for other publications (but PSF is still first in my heart!), so I had access to a lot of hot vinyl. New LP releases by Sonic Youth, The Eels, Belle and Sebastian, Elliot Smith, XTC, Jeff Buckley, Veruca Salt, and a few others caught my attention. The latest Neil Young album, Silver and Gold, while unfortunately representing the mellow country-folk Neil of Old Ways and Harvest Moon, was the best-sounding Neil LP I have ever heard. (The British pressing cost me $35, though!) But this year's award has to go to Yo La Tengo's and then nothing turned itself inside out. I bought this on CD the week it came out, and immediately proclaimed it to be the best album of the year. Then I taped it on cassette for my car, and wondered where all the music went. The secret to this album, which seems to have eluded so many music critics, is in the details, the very subtle, organic details. So when I finally purchased it on vinyl, it was almost a rediscovery. The songs seemed to breathe on their own. And once again, it was proven to me that analog still kicks digital butt.
I didn't know you could get it on vinyl!Audio Girl

As far as songs and lyrics go, I really like the release. I'm gonna try and find it on vinyl. But, I'll still hold on to the CD :-)

Dave, I apologize if I was a jerk about this. I sure didn't mean to be, and you have been nothing but a great resource and audio friend to me. (She says all this with her head hung low).

AG
Ahhhh, don't be a jerk!dbi

Sorry :-)

You never came off like a jerk to me. In fact, I was kinda worried that I was taking it too far so decided not to post this little thing from PSF in the thread down below because I didn't want it to appear like I was being a jerk. But it seemed like I could post it here in a little different context and not risk being seen as the guy who just had to have the last word :-)

I have both the LP and CD and to me they both sound pretty good so you might not be happy with the LP either. All the stuff on the Matador label and most indie type rock in general is available on vinyl. I think maf has the vinyl so you might check with him and see what he thinks. I remember that some of us talked about it over at Vinyl Asylum back when it came out but can't remember the consensus, if there was one. I know that maf once mentioned he saw a review of the album in Listener magazine by (I think) Art Dudley's wife and I don't think she particularly cared for the album, but I have no idea what type of music she does care for or if she was critical of the recording. Maybe if Mark sees this he could add something :-)
Unfortunately, I'd probably win that wagerAudio Girl

After my surgery in March, I don't have to deal with any of that stuff anymore so those excuses are out. :-)

Nah, my bitchiness just comes from a job that's about to drive me crazy. Plus, the fact that they are gonna cut 30% of the sales force by December. Who is staying, who is going is the theme of my company right now. Work Stress + Pinot Grigio = AG turns into a bitch.

I apologize to anyone on here -- particularly Dave (and you, too, Susan) -- that I have been crabby to. I sure didn't mean to and and regret that my tone was such. :-(

Regards,
Mary

I love your personality, don't you dare change a thing! I was just playing wit ya! Sorry, if it came out that way. Maybe its that time of the month for me. ;-)))

Sorry to hear about the work stress, Mary. And I don't mean to minimize it, but it is just a job. It sounds like your personal life is completely fullfilling.

Wanna kiss and make up? (Hee hee hee...That was for Davey's benefit.)

Thanks for your support, Snowie. And, you are right, its just a job. Unfortunately, my family is dependent on the income, plus unemployment for sales jobs in my industry are high. I know God will lead me the right way -- He always has -- and I find my self talking to Him a lot more these days!

What really matters though is Family, friends, a solid spiritual life, and health. Not necessarily in that order. I can honestly say that God has blessed me with those things.

Thank you for reminding me of the things that REALLY matter. :-)

Oh, thanks, now I feel depressed. ;-)

FYI, Audio Girl, don't ever do a GOOGLE search for Mudwrestling! Yikes, I do live a sheltered life!

Snowie

I was serious about the Yo La Tengo bet, btw.
