Did ya see who turned up in Guns & Roses as the bass player? I guess Tommy is all grown up now.

This may be old news to a bunch of you, but I just noticed it.

here's a guy from a band that was just about everything that Gn'R wasn't.. and now he's in.. too bad Buckethead is gone, that would have just been surreal....

The thing I read had a guy called Buckethead in the band too. I don't have any idea who he is though. Any clues?
I thought they parted ways..Masonjar

Buckethead is a guitarist mostly known for his avant-garde, post-instrial, weirdo work with Bill Laswell's group PRAXIS, though he also has a few solo albums out. I was under the impression that Buckethead and GnR parted ways..

Thanks for the link.

I saw the band lineup on the official GnR site, so I would expect it to be correct, although they could be day to day for all you ever know when Axl's in charge.

Never listened to Praxis, but I've liked most of the Laswell stuff I've heard. Would you recommend it?

Praxis has many sides.. the two albums I have are Transmutation and Sacrifist.

Transmutation includes drummer Brain and Bootsy Collins.. so as you may expect, it's pretty funky.. I like it a lot.. there's also some cool keyboard work by Bernie Worrell..

Sacrifist seems to owe more to Laswell's work with Painkiller, and it includes a more varigated cast of characters, including members of Blind Idiot God. It's less funky, more thrashy and industrial.. I like it a lot too.. Since it's hard to come by, I could easily drop a 'preview' copy your way.. If you keep your eyes open, Transmutation shows up in used bins once in a while..

email me if interested..

btw, thanks for the Wax Traxx! stuff, certainly brings back a flood of memories from my club and college dj days!!

Dude, you need to pick that up forthwith...

nobody,
Praxis has a nice compilation, I think it's called Collection, that would be a good place to start.

PS Yes, Buckethead is no longer in G'n'R. He was like the opposite of Slash (even though he could do anything), so I'm not sure how well he would have fit in. Or, more correctly, I'm not sure how much he would have changed the public's image of G'n'R..."surreal" is definitely the word for it.
