"Mac Nuggets" (a comp) ready for ThanksgivingDLD
Nov 27, 2002 7:02 AM
This comp concentrates on the "Pre Huge Commercial" success period of Fleetwood Mac. Primarily the music they released between 1969's English Rose and 1974's Heroes Are Hard To Find (sorry, don;t have Penguin). Some solo or offshoot works are also included, Paris & Bob Welch's French Kiss. On the cutting room floor is The Legendary Christine Perfect and ALL the blues stuff. Regrets to the Shake Your Money Maker, Doctor Brown, and Rattlesnake Shake lovers. Maybe another day. Just didn't fit.

This era finds the Mac in a solid rock/pop mode, with some spacey atmospheric contributions from Welch and some hard rock with outstanding wah wah effects by Danny Kirwan with Christine McVie adding some powerful, soaring ballads. She got shortchanged on the tracklist but hopefully her songs on this comp will portray her contributions pretty accurately.

Personally, I think the stuff they put out in this era is as good and can hold its own (in some cases even better) than their "stardom era" work. However, YMMV

One last note, IMHO, Kiln House doesn't have a down song on it. I snagged the last three songs on side 2 of the LP, an area where a group's weaker work usually resides.

Give me a holler here or an E-mail, Musicman_46@hotmail.com if yer interested. Them I owe stuff to are getting this automatically. Happy Thanksgiving to the American board contingent and have a great rest of the week to you Aussies/NZ'ers/Brits/Canadianers, Brazillieros, etc.
