| Boring as crud albums: Jefferson Airplane | Dave_G Dec 2, 2002 1:50 PM | | Long John Silver and Bark.
I found these brand new but used price.
Guess there is a reason why they are so cheap.
The sound quality is fair but the music is oh so boring. They are even remastered.
I guess if you were into flower power, acid, shrooms, peace, love, and drugs, this stuff took the cake.
But for 2002 music, it's way way dated sounding.
Now mind you, some of the other Airplane/Starship stuff is great, but these two are sleepers.
At least for me.
They will be introduced to the used cd shops soon.

| Bark is not a Dog (but, YMMV) | DLD Dec 2, 2002 2:05 PM | | Hey Dave, I listened to a lot of Bark as a wee lad. 8 track but heck, it sounded good in the Camaro. I found a NM LP a few weeks ago and was tickeld pink. Played it several times over the last couple of weeks. Granted, its not the solution to the universe's problems in song, but still a worthy effort nonetheless. And I answer yes to all the "I guess if you were into" criteria, if green mescaline, Bali Hi, and pot, could be included in the catchall "drugs". When The Earth Moves Again, Crazy Miranda, and You're Only Pretty As Tou Feel are pretty good starter songs for the LP. Wonder If I have any CDs you might want that I don't want so we could do a trade? From one Geezer to another. Ya got a copy of Coma Divine yet? I just might have one available. |
| Woof! | Dave_G Dec 2, 2002 2:43 PM | | DLD,
I will happily give this to you for Christmas, or we can work a trade. Glad to get it to someone who will appreciate it.
Do you want the other one, too?
Let me know!
Dave

| Check yer E-mail | DLD Dec 2, 2002 8:16 PM | | Just Bark is enuf. I don't have that adolescent attachment (that can turn boring into nostalgic melancholy) to Long John Silver . |
| Check out "Blows Against the Empire" | bradc Dec 2, 2002 2:08 PM | | Its a Paul Katner album, but is pretty much Jefferson Airplane. Great stuff. bradc |
| Agreed.... | tentoze Dec 2, 2002 2:24 PM | | Even being one of those shroompeaceniks, I always thought Volunteeers was the last album of any merit, good stuff and as I remember, the vinyl sounded pretty clean- the ceedee I have of it somewhere sounds like it was transferred from an 8-track in a casket- totally unlistenable. |
| Maybe you missed my post below about imports..... | HYFI Dec 2, 2002 3:50 PM | | I got a BMG/Camden labeled made in EC release of a best of Jefferson Airplane up to Craig Chaquico- all the original recordings for $10. Sound quality although not of todays standards, is not bad and even has a bit of soundstage. I have found this on other imports as compared to our mass market releases.
