From descriptions, I thought I'd likely really like these guys, but () left me feeling a bit ho-hum. Does anyone out there have a strong preference for one of these over the other? Is it likely that someone who was lukewarm to () would get into Agaetis Byryun?

I love <I><B>()</I></B>, but I also love <I><B>Agaetis Byryun</I></B> (or whatever it's called), but the latter can hit me as kind of dull if I'm not in the mood for it. The former, never. But I saw <I><B>()</I></B> played live (in its entirety, I believe) before I ever heard the recording, so I "got it" from day one. Ferocious show. Transcendent.
I really do not see how anyone can find it "a bit ho-hum", so I may be the wrong person to ask. (I usually pride myself on understanding other people's opinions, even if I don't agree with them. This is not one of those times.) |

Being another band from Iceland, I guess I was hoping to really like them as I like Bjork quite a bit and really like Mum a ton. I'd put these guys closer to Mum, which I would think to be a good sign. Coupled with lots of positive buzz, I figured, I'd be sure to like these guys right off. Maybe if I listen to it a few more times, things will snap into shape, but thus far, I just wasn't particularly excited by it. Maybe the record was just a victim of its own hype for me. Hard to say. Just trying to decide if I should go further with these guys. |
