Friday comp chat & question of the dayKlaatu76

This morning, I found in the back seat of my car this comp I did back in November and forgot all about it. It's appropriately-named title was, "Lost In The Shuffle". I don't even recall what was on it. Speaking of comps, I did one last night that I really like, initiated by the theme, "Radio The Way It Should Be". So the format is: comp kicks off with a late 90's tune, then 2 tracks of classic rock, then a newer tune, 2 more tracks of C.R., new tune, etc. Included are two or three tracks from Rave Recs comps (some Timothy Pure and Plum among the Steve Miller Band, Roxy Music...). This mix works really well. I'd like to hear someone else's version doing the same thing. But my fantasy question of the day is: how much free time would you like to have to get caught up on your listening? If you're like me, there is almost never enough time to really get into a long listening stretch, the weekend helps but doesn't satisfy the need to just kick back in the chair like the man in the Maxell ad and vege out for hours on end, pulling out those discs you haven't heard in a while but you've been meaning to, and especially catch up on comps that have been coming in every week. For me, I'd like to have at least a full week, no- make that two weeks would be ideal to do this. No one in the house but myself to crank up the jams for two straight weeks!! So, how much "quality time" would you like to have at your disposal to listen before you'd be ready to go nuts and back to the daily rut?

(In the above paragraph, there's a song title from the 70's - can you spot it?)

okay, I'm daydreaming again, back to work now...

Paging BarryL, got the Ambrosia yesterday- looking forward to spinning that. Thanks.

The comp I'll be sending you soon (just as soon as I get a free moment, and thanks again for the Moodies comp BTW) was originally called "Radio Free Bhagdad," and was very similar in concept to what you describe. It was also going to feature "Mohammed's Radio" by Warren Zevon as the last cut. I decided to go less political with it, replaced the Zevon track w/ "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead," and changed the title to Bring On the Dancing Horses.

I can't answer your question...there's never enough time for music. My wife has been puttering about the house since losing her job in April. I'm dumbfounded as to how she can spend an entire day, alone, and not turn on the stereo!

OK, back to work.
Is the answer Time by the Chambers Brothers ? n/tskewiff
