I'd like to make one correction if I could Mary.

recordseller.ca should be http://www.recordcellar.ca

I've done business in the past with this owner/website in the past. Brian Mensour is a super guy and a pleasure to deal with. He grades his LP's very well. I see he has updated his website also.

He's from Ajax, Ontario for all those that reside in Canada.

Take care Mary

...is a relatively new website called Swappington's. It just added vinyl to available formats in late January. The search capability is primitive, but it's a freebie site, with no membership fees and no annoying pop-up ads. The owner plans to enhance the site over time.

I think it's a great alternative to eBay, especially for getting rid of stuff you don't want. I plan on listing most of my VHS tapes and old vinyl (my vinyl days are over - sorry, but I don't like the flatness of compression, pops/clicks and wow&flutter).

If you haven't joined Swappington's yet and are considering it, please use my ID (jeskibuff) as a referral. They have a bonus points system for referrals. So far, I've only listed 3 VHS tapes and "swapped" one the day after I listed it. I have to get inspired to list some more. VHS tapes are easier to list because I can use my scanner for the covers. LPs are harder...I have to set up a photo session to record the condition of the jackets, etc. I've got about 100 LPs and will probably list over half of them (eventually).

Please report back once you've actually used it for LPs. I am only including sites on the list that have been purchased from and the individuals had positive experiences. In this case, obviously it would be "swapped from" rather than purchased.

Others can add it to their own list, if they choose.
Well, I didn't intend...jeskibuff

...for it to get added to any particular list. I just think that the concept is interesting and makes it an additional avenue for acquiring (or getting rid of) goodies. I don't think any experience I have with trading LPs on the site will be of much relevance. Much like eBay, your mileage may vary: you're dealing with a wide spectrum of "merchants", so while some may have good tales to tell, others will have horror stories of their trades.

Especially since the site is new, there may be some great opportunities of picking up albums that are hard to find. Someone may "list" something they dug out of their closet while the population of browsing "buyers" is still small, unlike eBay where out of the some 40 million members, at least ONE may be looking for that item.
