| My music purchasing got out of hand yesterday :-( | Audio Girl Mar 1, 2003 2:24 PM | | First went online and ordered 3 new jazz LPs (2 of which got a lot of recs on another board):
1.Eric Dolphy--Out To Lunch
2.Ray Brown -- Something For Lester
3.Bill Evans -- Quintessence
Then, I went and visited my local used CD store. Picked up:
1. Buffalo tom -- (big red letter day) -- thanks, Stone for turning me on to this...its excellent~ $8.99
2. The Sex Pistols -- Never Mind The Bullocks $6.99
3. John Mellencamp -- The Best That I Could Do -- $8.99
4. Grant Green (with Kenny Drew, Ben Tucker & Ben Dixon) -- Sunday Mornin' -- Limited edition, Japanese reissue Blue Note -- $16.99
And, finally, I stopped by my local audio salon and picked up the following LPS (all new) and recommended by my favorite salesman, Gary:
1. Sonny Rawlins & The Contemporary Leaders (Hawes/Kessel/Vinnegar/Manne/Feldman -- Fantasy Remaster. $10.00.
2. Miles Davis Quintet -- Cookin' -- OJC remaster, Supposedly contains a quintessential recording of "My Funny Valentine". $10.00.
3. Ben Folds Five -- Whatever and Ever Amen -- I had never heard this, and really liked it. I'll possibly review later if it hasn't already been done on RR. $10.00
4. Allison Krauss -- Forget About It -- Lyle Lovett and Dolly Pardon sing harmony on a killer version of "Dreaming My Dreams With You". $25 (Yikes! I dislike paying that much).
5. Ben Webster & Joe Zawinul -- Soulmates -- RTI 180 gm vinyl remaster -- $20.00.
I need to go to music rehab,

I'm not a huge Ella Fitzgerald fan, but I found some absolutley perfect, mint stuff by her so I loaded up;
Ella at Montreaux
Ella at Carnegie
Best of Ella
Louis and Ella
Don McClean S/T
Zenith 3 Dimension Stereophonic Demo
The Who, Face Dances
The Beach Boys, Fun Fun Fun 2LP
The Graduate Soundtrack
Dave Brubeck Gone With The Wind
Together, A New Chuck Mangione Concert 2 Lp
Neil Diamond Love At The Greek
Mexicana Alas De Oro (everythings written in Spanish on this, have no clue what the music is all about, but a really pretty gold cover)
Also scored a neat Realistic record cleaning brush with a built in liquid cleaner reservoir, unopened, for, uh, $.25:)
Not all my bag, but for $.75 each, what the heck huh?
I love your Allison Kraus snag. Thats a killer album, I've got it on CD and it sounds wonderful. LP must be outstanding. Curious as to how the Sex Pistols sound on vinyl. |
| Oh, so you two finally met, eh? | Snowbunny Mar 1, 2003 4:49 PM | | Didn't know you were into that kinky stuff! ;-)
Don't forget, I saw ya first! (Or did I?)

| Aren't you the funny bunny? | Audio Girl Mar 1, 2003 9:11 PM | | Hey, I have been working on your comp today. It'll be in the mail on Monday unless I drink too much PG tonight. :0 |
| Please don't tell Ms. Nasty | Audio Girl Mar 1, 2003 8:38 PM | | or I'll have to change my address. ;-)
By the way, if that is an original release of Louis and Ella, it is worth about $20 - $25. Regardless, that was a great haul. I'm a huge Ella fan so if you don't like something there, let's trade. What do you think The Who meant by "Face Dances"? Just curious...I'm a naive little Southern Baptist girl, ya know.
The AK is much better on LP than CD. Can't tell you on the Sex Pistols, dear...I purchased that on CD. I love that used CD store @ Greenville/Lovers Lane. I'll even sneak in there incognito without makeup. :-) I sure would like to purchase some SP on vinyl though...
Let's get Davey to Dallas,
