| Anybody wanna join Hubby & I for Yo La Tengo in NYC concert | Audio Girl Mar 1, 2003 8:26 PM | | Event Date: Friday, April 25. The tickets are fairly reasonable ($30/each), the Beacon Theatre venue is superb (from what I have read & heard from others), and we'd love the company. You need to go to www.matadorrecords.com to purchase your tickets. They went on sale today.
Darius, Chuck and I would love it if you and Sherry joined us! J, same goes for you! Plus any other takers...

| That would be great, but I'll probably see them in Philly on April 18th. | Swish Mar 2, 2003 7:54 AM | | While it would be a blast to see them with a bunch of Rave
Recers, going to shows in NYC gets complicated. It would involve overnight stay, more driving, blah, blah, blah. The Philly venue (the Trocadero) is very nice as well, and I can drive home after the show.
So, anybody else in for the Philly show? Maybe we can get a gang of RR'ers to that one too.

| re: Anybody wanna join Hubby & I for Yo La Tengo in NYC concert | J Mar 2, 2003 1:49 PM | | Mary, I'll take a pass on the YLT. I saw them a few years ago, not a big fan in the first place, and my budget is closed for shows at this particular point in time, I only attend shows I'm guest-listed for. BUT...there's a place around the corner from the Beacon, an inexpensive Szechuan restaurant that's easily my favorite in the entire city, where I've dined more than any other place. I'd jump at the chance for us to join you there for a bite to eat before the show, perhaps? If you're not a big fan of Chinese food, then I'm sure we could figure out an alternative, there are a bunch of good places around there...or down here, by us, or wherever, getting around is easy enough. Either hit me w/an email or I'll get ya, and it'd be great if we could hook that up. Trudy & I would greatly look forward to meeting you guys & if you enjoy Szechuan food I couldn't think of a better way to do it. |
| Sounds like a plan! | Audio Girl Mar 2, 2003 6:03 PM | | Let's be sure and get together this time. We look forward to it. It was a pleasure to meet with Darius and Sherry on the last visit. |
| You're dragging Chuck to see Yo La Sucko? | Darius Mar 3, 2003 11:52 AM | | I just reserved two tickets over Yo La's website. I'm actually not 100% sure we'll be able to go, as there's a chance we'll have to be out of town. But these tickets will be easy to sell, and I'm sure they'll go quickly, so it was worth the risk. I don't think Shari's ever heard this band and I'm not sure they're up her alley -- I'll have to play them for her and see what she thinks. In any case, she's a good sport and I'm guessing she'll jump at the opportunity since it has the sweetener of hanging out with you guys again (and meeting Jay and Trudy too). So let the fact of my purchase of the tix be a gesture of commitment to this plan, but I won't know for a couple weeks whether we for sure can make it. Hope it works out, and thanks for thinking of us. |
| Mr. Budget actually likes a few of their efforts... | Audio Girl Mar 3, 2003 10:38 PM | | so, yes, he will be there. Tell Shari that I am counting on her participation, if she is willing...We'll be at our usual hotel if we can get a reservation. If nothing else, let's have Sunday brunch so I can drink too many Mimosas & purchase too much vinyl in Greenwich Village. ;-) I will have to say that J's suggestion for Chinese (can't spell the "s" word) sounded good also.
We would love to see all of you...looking to spend time with those we enjoy as our son goes through 13 weeks of he*l at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. Distractions help Marine-recruit moms, ya understand? :-) |
