Daily Record Reviews?PwrPopGuy

Anyone interested in reading or posting a daily review of an album that people may have missed or just never checked out to begin with? One person a day picks an "album of the day" to review, something that's as far back as the 70's, or something as recent as last year. Maybe you've got such an album in your collection right now that someone could find out about by reading about it here from your insightful and enthusiastic review. Do a track-by-track commentary and overall album summary, but try to write the review so that it invites the reader to wanna find out more about the group/artist.
At the end of the week, we could pick a "Best Review of the Week", based on which one got the most responses, interest level in the particular album. Anyone game? If so, pick out something everyone might not have heard yet, maybe something slightly obscure, write and post a review. Who wants to go first?

Interest was pretty high at first but faded fast. It's pretty tough to have any kind of organized effort like this since a lot of us just don't seem to have the time or inclination to write anything like a detailed review of an album. They are fun to read though :-)

I remember- they lasted about two weeks, didn't they? :-) I guess "daily" is really asking too much but maybe we could try Wednesdays & Fridays, or just every Wednesday, the next day after the Tuesday rotation thread. It's the "obscure album" part of it I was hoping might make a difference. Let's see if anyone else has any interest at all and go from there, no big thang.

...are you specifically avoiding the weekend? Weekends are best for me.

In response to the original question, I will give the same response that I gave to that other thread: isn't that what this board is all about? I was just thinking that I need to start practising my reviewing skills, so I'll force myself to do one this weekend. You can count it towards the following week for purposes of accounting.

Go for it, Mr. Chalk. Weekend's cool- not "specifically avoiding" anything or not intending to- just didn't think about it but now that you mention it, this place could use more activity on the weekend. I'm gonna do some reviewing myself. Thanks for the support.

First, I just did an album review today.

If you missed it, then others have as well. If others have missed it, then maybe they're not interested. I usually post reviews whenever the mood strikes me. So picking a day is a little regimented for me. But I certainly could sort through my CD collection and post reviews on old albums and remasters. I could also go back in the archives and recycle some old reviews;-)

But I definately would not be interested in a comparison or contest of any sort. Posts about penises get hundreds of hits here, so its easy to misconstrue hits as substenative interest (maybe you missed the penis thread last year).

I'm always interested in reading reviews by the posters here. There just aren't enough of them. It's finding the time to write them, Rick!

When was the last time YOU wrote an indepth review? How many in the last 30 days?

Hard, isn't it?

Adding in the competitive factor and it really becomes a pain for people.

No, write 'em and post 'em when you can.

...no contests, no specific days, just post the sumabitches. And you are right, I don't remember the last time I did a formal review.
