| Any Producers fans out there? Attn: record industry bigwigs. | Finch Platte Mar 3, 2003 6:10 PM | | Wow! I was in Tower today in hopes I could spend this $25 gifty cert I got for V-Day, and boy, was I in luck! Snagged quite a few winners, and this is the part for the recording industry moguls-
b they were all under $10!!
A couple of them I bought because they triggered something in me and they were purely an impulse buy, i.e. Pacifier's disc for $9.99. The sticker on the cover proclaimed "...if the gods of rock 'n' roll should smile on one band, it should be Pacifier." (Kerrang) and that was enough for me. Kind of a punky Fuel w/ snarly vocals.
Next was American Hifi's 'The Art of Losing'. Bought this purely because it was $7.99. Sounds a little like Blink 82 mixed with The Living End, which is fine with me.
I glanced thru the 'P' section, and saw a Producers disc I had never seen before, 'Coelacanth'. If you're not familiar w/ the Producers, they are a band from the 80s, who played immaculate pop- great musicianship w/ hooky poppy songs. I already have a disc w/ 2 of their albums on it- 'The Producers' and 'You Make The Heat'. I looked at the date of this new one, and since it said 2001, I snagged it. When I open it at home, I found it's actually material recorded from 1987, which is ohhh-tay. Sounds great, and the tunes seem to be top notch after just one listen. $9.99.
Then. I walk by the Norah Jones section, and there it is- the Norah Jones DVD, 'Live In New Orleans'. How much? $9.99.
i Score!
Are you listening, industry dorks? I wouldn't have bought
i any
of this stuff had it been more expensive. I would have gone home empty-handed, I'm sure, since the new Pretenders wasn't even on the shelves, yet. How much would
i that
have been? $18.99? Give me a fookin' break.

| Producers...that 1st album is fun | Mr MidFi Mar 4, 2003 8:55 AM | | A co-worker of mine at the record store back in high school dated the bass player briefly...that's how I know them. Fun pop tunes, one hit song on their 2nd release (She Sheila), then they fell off the edge of the universe. |
