| Thanks tentoze, Finch, DLD | Chip_B Jun 12, 2003 7:25 PM | | I appreciate all the comps I've been getting and apologize for not acknowledging receipt earlier. I've listened to DLD's Sonny Landreth copy and 'Pig Boy' mystery comp (most of it anyway), and tentoze's Burning the Roux. I'm a big Landreth fan, so that's a no-brainer. The 'Stiff' tribute made a favorable first impression--the parts I've listened to so far anyway--but I'll have to sit down with it again to really get a feel. Love that Richard Hell tune though. Haven't listened to Finch's Crescent comp yet and I'm not familiar with them; I'll play it when I get back.
Several familiar tunes on 'Burning', but lots of nice surprises too. I especially like the Subdudes cut--first time I've heard it. I used one of their songs (Miss Love)on a couple of comps I did right after I got a burner and also considered one of their cuts for 'unsolicited'. Also like the familiar stuff by Robbie Robertson (I used that same atmospheric tune on one of my favorite mix tapes many years ago), Taj Mahal, Lucinda, and especially Johnny Adams--man, what a voice! Have you heard his version of 'Feel Like Breakin' Up Somebody's Home'? Smokin'...
I'm off to Virginia tomorrow to see my family and bring them down to the new house...which is currently wall-to-wall boxes. Other than a brief few days in April when my wife came down to FL to house-hunt with me, I haven't seen them in six months. Man, am I glad this separation is finally ending!
Sayonara for now...
