Just got his latest album. 12 great blues standards. And the Band, OMG!!! This album just rocks. The sound is amazing. I just can't say enough good things about it. Very happy with the purchase.

Anyone else think this is a great compilation?

"Teardrops Will Fall" and "To Washington" (an old Woody Guthrie tune). Both were very good.

Your post makes me want to check it out. I'll have to go perusing around at lunch today. Thanks for the input.

I was listening to JCM's "Big Daddy" on the drive in this morning.

Or, rather, my wife does. I've listened twice, and it's definitely rootsy. Tracks 3, 10 and 12 were excellent, as I recall. One of them will probably be on the Waiting to Derail vol. 2 comp, which I keep meaning to work on and never get around to.

Nice set of covers, basically well done, but not particularly inspired. Then again, I have a feeling that I wouldn't like it if this guy did an album of Ramones covers, either. I'm not a big Springsteen fan, in no small part because I don't like the overproduction, and nearly everything I've heard of his, save Nebraska, natch, had a glossy, commercial rock production sheen to it. But the Boss has songs. This guy...if I were King, he would simply not be allowed near a recording studio. But I realize my position is extreme. I'll stick to Nick Cave, Tom Waits, the Blasters, & Bob Dylan for this sort of thing. But for fans of this guy, I suppose it's a good record.
