Then again, I have a feeling that I wouldn't like it if this guy did an album of Ramones covers, either. I'm not a big Springsteen fan, in no small part because I don't like the overproduction, and nearly everything I've heard of his, save Nebraska, natch, had a glossy, commercial rock production sheen to it. But the Boss has songs. This guy...if I were King, he would simply not be allowed near a recording studio. But I realize my position is extreme. I'll stick to Nick Cave, Tom Waits, the Blasters, & Bob Dylan for this sort of thing. But for fans of this guy, I suppose it's a good record. |
