If so, not bad, not bad at all.

Though I wish I had all the source albums.. I did borrow a few tracks from other folks.. unleasHell sent me some Mikey Dread, got the new Ben Harper track from Finchy.. a few are from V/A samplers.. I think I have as many V/A reggae discs in my collection as actual albums.. I also didn't go to my vinyl for this one, as I did for the prior comps.. I just didn't have the time. Glad you like it.

Great album -- no matter what you call it.

The "TOUCH" CD is awesome; I have the MFSL version.

In an older interview with one of the top brass at MFSL, he named this disc as one of the best 3 the company ever produced.

Brian Wilson presents Pet Sounds Live. How 'bout them Wondermints?!

Rooney - power poppy with alternative sensibilities. First track shows a lot of promise (Beach Boys/ELO as someone - J, I think - mentioned a week or so ago) but then the remainder of the album doesn't quite seem as strong, but I'm sure it'll grow on me.

Kraftwerk - The Mix - wow, this sounds awesome. Can't wait to road test it.

John Fogerty - The Blue Ridge Rangers

Jean-Luc Ponty - Le Voyage, disc 2

is awsome.

Those synth passages are excellent on this clear as a bell remaster.

Sometimes a corny listen, but this album is great.

I remember hearing "Triangle" for the first time back in '74 - it caught my ear almost immediately. Probably one of my first prog favorites, along with Yours Is No Disgrace and Roundabout.

King Crimson - Projekcts 1 and 2
King Crimson - The Construkction of Light
Dead Soul Tribe - S/T
Katatonia - Last Fair Deal Gone Down
Anathema - A Fine Day To Exit. This really pairs well with the Katatonia. Mason, if you liked the Katatonia check out this Anathema CD.
ELO - A New World Record
ELO - Face The Music
Steeley Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill
Eurythmics - Greatest Hits
Bill Miller - Ghostdance
Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
Todd Rundgren - Greatest Hits
IQ - The Seventh House
Zebra - Zebra. How this escaped my radar all these years is beyond me.
Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery. Very close to being my favorite Tull release. Benefit still wins out though.

Need to find me a Simple Minds Greatest Hits CD. Either that or the Breakfast Club soundtrack. I've had their song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" in my head all weekend.

Lean listening times lately, but these are new:
Nick Drake 'Way to Blue'
It's a beautiful day S/T -time has not been kind to this oldie.
Moby Grape 'Best of' -way too much filler on this two disc collection, but lots of goodies if you're into that San Fran sound of the 60's.

Sprung for good seats this time, 20 rows back, right center. Promise to take notes and give a complete review, however, regrettfully I'll be missing Magma's set, Saturday's headliner, so I can attend my niece's graduation party. We're supposed to be shunning things french anyway right? Is Camel playing in your neighborhood after this festival?

Boy that sucks, they use three Mellotrons AT THE SAME TIME during concerts!

Or so I hear.

Yes, Camel is playing here July 2 and I can't wait, I like that music a LOT.

PG played here last night but I didn't go, too $$$$$.

Please do file a report on NF.

I really liked that soundtrack from Trent Gardner. If you liked that check out Trent's other project group The Explorers Club. The first CD is pretty good. The second Explorers Clud CD entitled Raising The Mammoth is not quite as good but worthy of a listen.

I prefered Playpus' second CD Ice Cycles over Pus Comes To Shove. Check out The Jelly Jam if you haven't already. They are essentially the same band minus Derek Sherinian. The Jelly Jam has a new CD coming out very soon too!

What did you think of Nektar's The Prodigal Son? I liked it better than Down To Earth. Blech! Remember The Future will forever be Nektar's masterpiece.

Cusco eh. You must be liking them. Tell me more.

Jun 17, 2003 10:19 AM
Hey, Darren, needless to say I got that Trent Gardner cd based on one of your great comps, "Theater's Project". Thanks for the additional suggestions, I will keep them on my want list.

The new NEKTAR cd was a very pleasant surprise to me, I didn't really expect to get such a great album. The opening track is just awesome, and the rest of the cd is also on par with that great tune too.

As for Cusco, it's kinda newage stuff with ethnic (Andean) elements, if you like this sort of music you'll surely enjoy Cusco too. It's curious to notice that, even though the music of Cusco is typically Andean (Peruvian), and that Cusco is in fact a city in Peru, the group is from Germany.

Was in the wilderness all wk-end, which is when I usually get the most time for listening, but:

(not recalling titles right now) The Sadies (great stuff), Badly Drawn Boy (good stuff), The Corals (more good stuff), Tori Amos (the jury is still out-stuff), Spoon (more good...)- thanx to the Northern neighbor who sent these.

Decemberists' Castaways & Cutouts is still jumping on the ceedee player a lot- this one is bound to be on my year-end list of favs- fantastic. Damon & Naomi with Ghost is still knocking me out too, even if it is 3 yrs old to the rest of the world.

Davey's Twilight comp is full of dang good stuff (no surprise there).

And some more that I forget....

Ah, Pink Floyd's Animals. Perhaps my fav Floyd release. I see the lettering on yours is as faded out as mine.

How is Elton's Caribou? I thought that was one of his stinkers. Maybe I'm thinking of a later period. His mid 80's stuff had a foul odor.

I almost bought that Geddy Lee. Glad I didn't.
Pinky LeeTroy
Jun 17, 2003 2:48 PM
Pink Floyd- Yes I had a terrible fading problem in one of my old apartments. All my early CBS/Columbia CDs with the white edges and the bold red writing are all faded, some almost unreadable.

Caribou is good! Funny you mention it being a "Stinker" as that's probably my favorite track on the disc. It's from 1974 and is the first EJ album I ever bought . . . on 8-track in 1974. As an insolent 13 year old I thought "The Bitch is Back" was the height of edgyness.

That Geddy Lee is just lame. It's not even that it's awful like a Bert Convy album. It's just so safe and boring.
That Liquid Tension Experiment sucks. I hate it. (nt)Darius

Very diverse list for being so short Ed. Classical to Italian prog to Jazz to Heavy Metal.

That PFM CD is excellent. Their first release, Storia Di Un Minuto, is equally fantastic. In fact, I prefer it over Per Un Amico. And should you want more PFM, check out L'Isola Di Niente. Pardon me if you already know this. I'm just throwing stuff out there.

Seventies Italian prog was a great discovery for me, thanks to Demetrio.

There are three new comps on the way to you, one of them featuring some more Italian prog (together with some French prog stuff too). Some bands featured in this specific comp I can recall: Il Balletto di Bronzo, Locanda Delle Fate, Nuova Era, Ange, Carpe Diem, Memoriance, Eclat, Versailles, among others.

I got another Banco cd few days ago that I do recommend to you: "Io Sono Nato Libero". Also got "Come in un'ultima cena", but didn't have a chance to listen very carefully to it enough to give you a definitive impression yet.

Demetrio.

Thanks Demetrio. I look forward to it.

I tried ordering that Banco CD several months ago from Lasers Edge. It was the limited edition digipak gold remaster. Lasers Edge later told me that it was out of stock and to this day, have never restocked it. That bummed me out. Anyway, I was going to order it from CD Universe but was unsure if this was the digipack gold remaster. Is your copy the digipak gold version, and if so, where did you order it?
