| Your perfect album side - first tracks that come to mind | PwrPopGuy Jun 17, 2003 9:05 PM | | For those that need a memory jogger, an album side consists of 6 tracks, depending on length. So, without too much thought, list the first 6 tracks that come to mind that might be on a "perfect album side", or at least a very satisfying long set of tracks. Let's see what kind of mixes we end up with. Here's mine:
1. Good Vibrations - Beach Boys
2. Come Together - Beatles
3. Foxy Lady - Hendrix
4. Spirit of Radio - Rush
5. Take It Off the Top - Dixie Dregs
6. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Next up on the turntable... |

| I'll play | Mr MidFi Jun 18, 2003 6:48 AM | | 1. Let Down - Radiohead
2. South Side of the Sky - Yes
3. Same Boy You've Always Known - White Stripes
4. Livin', Lovin' Maid - Led Zeppelin
5. Outta Mind (Outta Sight) - Wilco
6. Seven Chinese Brothers - REM
Some "changes of pace" in this mix, but I think it would work for me. |
| Nice mix of old & new stuff | PwrPopGuy Jun 18, 2003 6:56 AM | | Hey Chris, you're sending a couple of tracks for the double-shot sampler, right? |
| (sigh)... Damn Amazon! | Mr MidFi Jun 18, 2003 8:58 AM | | Now it looks like they're not sending my long-lost disc until 4th of July or thereabouts. Sorry, dude. I really wanted to share something. And by "something," I mean two of the greatest songs ever written about bestiality and The Three Stooges.
Oh well. I'm not going to hold up the process. I will select tracks from something less provocative and more timely, I guess. Sorry for the delay. |
| Perfect? | Jar Jun 18, 2003 7:50 AM | | probably impossible.. putting together six stellar songs though is pretty fun!
1 Superchunk - Skip Steps 1 & 3
2 Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
3 Husker Du - Standing in the Rain
4 Replacements - Sixteen Blue
5 The Smiths - Cemetry Gates
6 Dinosaur Jr. - Get Me
reminds me of the approach I took when we did those "12 song" comps last year.. I tried to do two perfect 6-song album sides.. I think I'll make this my next project.
