Antique Audio Labs "Wave 8's"Jth
Apr 17, 2002 1:04 PM
I am considering changing my audio gear. I am very attracted to the Wave 8's at $99.00 a side, might run them with the Paradigm Atom speakers (ww/subwoofer). Also considering the Antique Audio Labs 'passive pre amp at just under $400.00? or the Creek passive amp OB 10/12(?) at about $325.00. I realize there may be better setups than this but I am a sucker for the little wave amps. Another option might be the ecomony Jolida 302 for $325.00. This is not my home theatre system but just a little music system for a den or office....Please give me some feedback!!!!!! Thanks

Why not try the MG SI 15 DT integrated from ASL.

It's an integrated that offers you a SET option. It's supposed to be quite good http://www.divertech.com/antiquesl.html

I am with RGA, if you need a preamp, you need to consider the cost of the interconnect as well. An integrated will be a better option. Since I am an ASL dealer, I don't want to say much here. If you want more discussion, you can e-mail at paullam@sk.sympatico.ca

Thank you very much for your responce...It's seems as though the Wave 8's got very good first reviews but now there is not much heard about them. A dealer in Denver said they were on back order and was not sure how soon they would be available. But that ASL is a quality company. I thought for the price it might be a winner(?), not sure. I realize the cost of cables and pre-amps. I have seen you on this site before and good advice. Still like them but seems not a big interest among true tube people, Again, thanks for your help.

I just bought my Wave 8s from http://www.jeffssoundvalues.com

I got them today (they are sitting at my feet at work). I will play with them tonight. I will try to give a detailed report later in the week.
My system:
ACI Sapphire IIIs
Denon 2801 (as preamp)
Rotel RB985 (110x5 THX)
